Swimming Lessons 2015

The kids 2 week long swimming lessons started on June 15 and we just completed it Thursday June 25th.  They did so great.  Spencer and I where back and forth on them doing swim lessons again this year since they were both already really good swimmers from last year and we got a membership to the club again this summer and have spent pretty much every day since Memorial day at the pool practicing.  But we ended up deciding since they loved Mrs. Michelle so much and could not wait to learn more from her there really was no harm in them taking another session with her this summer.  We found out the day before class started that Carter's friend Alex would be in their class and that he was very afraid of water so we thought if nothing else maybe our kids love for water would give Alex more confidence to get in the pool and learn.  Well the first day of class the kids jumped right in and Mrs. Michelle's first words were "wow your kids need to be on a swim team!" It made me very proud but a little worried what $160 would buy me in swim lessons since they were already great swimmers.  She was wonderful with them and had them work on all their strokes and swim the long way of the pool.  Aubrey's breast stroke (mermaid) and her butterfly (frog) are so beautiful to watch.  It looks so effortless and just elegant.  Mrs. Michelle said she had never seen someone her age do the arm movements so well.  Carter is more of the dare devil that would make my heart skip a beat when he would do backward upside down cannon balls into the pool or dive for rockets in 6 feet deep water.  His confidence was built up and he really helped Alex feel more comfortable and by the end Alex was swimming and I would have to say I think Carter helped a little with that. All in all it was a great 2 weeks.  I was happy Nana (twice) and Papa (once) got to take them to their lesson and daddy made it over for a lesson.  It has made me want a pool even more in my backyard to start grooming these hopefully Olympic swimmers!

We are actually looking into the local swim team and splash ball so stay posted that might be our next adventure in the future.
