May 2021

May is always a fabulous month because we get to celebrate this great boy! Our Carter guy turned 11 on May 2. We celebrated by having a birthday weekend! On Saturday, May 1st we took the kids down to Clovis to check out defy, a really awesome indoor trampoline park. We had a blast!

After we jumped our hearts out we headed over to Habit for dinner and to do some shopping.
It was a really fun day.
Sunday, May 2 was Carter’s official birthday he came in for a snuggle with mom dad and the dogs.
Once we were all awake we went and looked at Carter’s birthday door.

Aubrey and I had so much fun decorating for Carter’s birthday this year. We went with an shark theme.

And he loved it!

He went straight into gift opening…

Carter’s big gift this year was hidden in the house and he had to follow a string to find it.

Boy was he excited! A brand new drum set!!!

He went straight to playing it. Aubrey is not too thrilled I don’t think
After gifts we had Carter’s favorite breakfast, Pancakes and they were his favorite color blue.
Carter had fun playing with his new toys. He got a fun drone that he was working on learning how to fly. Then we took a family walk over to port of subs for lunch.
After lunch more drum practice.
And then we took him to his favorite spot in Merced, wow nickel arcade.

Carter decided instead of going out for dinner he wanted to have Popeyes and watch a movie in the movie room so that is what we did.

Table prize time.

And then cake time!!

It was a wonderful day. We had so much fun celebrating our favorite guy! Carter is getting so big and we are so proud of him he loves math and video games. His favorite food is still chicken nuggets from McDonald’s or Popeyes. Carter is quite the jokester and comes up with the best come back lines. He has us laughing all of the time. He’s got so many friends and it’s just such a fun guy to be around. We love him to pieces!
Here are some of the pictures he took With his new drone….

May the 4th be with you day at school….
Fresh strawberries from our strawberry plant from Nana.
Getting ready for Carter’s party…

On Cinco de Mayo we walked to our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner as a family.

Friday, May 7 it was Carter’s birthday party. He decided he wanted to do an escape room at our house with a video game theme and also Swimming it’s going to be a fun night!

First activity swimming

Then video games…

After games it was time for dinner. Carter decided on a McDonald’s all you can eat bar.

I think these boys were over joyed to get all you can eat McDonald’s!

After dinner carter opened gifts.

Then it was time to do the escape room. Spencer and I had so much fun coming up with an arcade themed escape room we had 10 different locks that they had to open. Some were with keys some where combinations and some directional. It was a pretty challenging escape room.

The boys were all up for the challenge and had a great time working together. It was neat hearing their ideas and them working together to achieve the end goal.

And they did it! Before the time was up they even had some time remaining.

Carter’s guest list was Jackson, Wesley, Ander, cord, and Noah
After they escaped it was piñata time.

And then more swimming
Then we had cake.

And more video games and a movie.
Since it was such a crazy party I was not up for a huge slumber party so I let him pick two friends to spend the night. He picked Wesley and Noah to stay the night.

After all the boys went home we drove up to Manteca to celebrate grandma’s birthday and Mother’s Day with her.

It was a special treat because Craig was in town.

On our way home we got to stop at Old Navy and my favorite cookie store Crumbl cookies for a fun desert.

Sunday, May 9 was Mother’s Day.
The kids and daddy went above and beyond. They did so many fun things for me to make me feel special on Mother’s Day.
Aubrey made me such a sweet card. And she bought me the most beautiful necklace that had the saying you are my sunshine on it. That is the song that I sing to them every night before bed so it was very special.

Carter also made me a very thoughtful card. He also came up with the idea to make me these beautiful flowers in a vase. He picked out the vase and the flowers all by himself and it came out so darling.
They worked together to make a beautiful new stone for the front yard with their hand prints in it.
Spencer bough me these beautiful flowers and my favorite candy!
They all sure made me feel very very special!
I love these kids so much!!!!

Nana was so kind to decide to come down to Merced to celebrate Mother’s Day here. The whole family came down and we had a late lunch early dinner at Strings.
After are fabulous meal we came home to celebrate Carter’s birthday.

Titi made a delicious strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Aubrey having some Nana time.
Then we took some pictures outside.

It was a really special day and I am so grateful for my family!!
Carter loves his new birthday shirt from nana and papa!
With some of his Christmas money and birthday money that he’s been saving him and dad went in together to buy a virtual reality games set!

He absolutely loves it!
This is Aubrey’s math class and I thought it was so cool how they made it look like a virtual class!
Carter loves being a bearded dragon dad whenever we can we take rango with us to go buy crickets.
This is just a funny stance that Rango does at night time.
It’s getting warm out! We get to finally enjoy our pool.
Sushi date night so fun!
Aubrey made sugar cookies at a church activity aren’t they just the cutest?!?
Fun art projects at home….

School pictures finally came in. I thought it was funny that they put my picture on the class that I’ve been subbing in…..
I had saved these pictures better but for some reason these are the only ones that I have on the computer for now. But both Aubrey and Carter school picture came out fantastic!!
Peterson pride day!
Family pool days are a must!

The month of May was basketball month at Aubrey‘s school. She had two weeks of intense practice/conditioning. And then had to try out. She made the JV team and we are all so excited. She looks great in her new uniform!
Since I work at the school I get to sneak away and check on my guy playing foursquare with his friends.
Tuesday, May 18 was Aubrey’s first game. She was very excited. It was a super busy day for us it was Carter’s first day of baseball practice and dad had a meeting down in Fresno. But we made it work and I was able to make it to Aubrey’s game and then to Carter’s practice right after.

Because of Covid the basketball games must be out on the blacktop. This particular day was extremely hot. The poor players looked so hot but they did wonderful and it was a tie game. So great to see sports coming back.

Right after her game I rushed to the baseball field to catch the end of Carter’s baseball practice.
It was fun seeing Carter throwing the ball again. This year he’s not on the New York Yankees team because Spencer was unable to coach so they put him on the Giants team.
Our girl is such an all star basketball player!
Fun dinner with mom at in and out!!
Since the basketball season was pretty much just the month of May we had games back to back. We loved going to all of her games and watching Aubrey do so great on the court!

Wasabi challenge for Carter.
Aubrey’s friend had a birthday party where they made a cake this is Aubrey’s cake..
Getting a henna tattoo…
Our family friends the Gudgel’s had a big 13th party for their son Camden.

Rango would grab onto the streamers when Carter would bring him through his door way.
Not sure if I’ve posted a picture of our patio but it really is coming together with all of our outside furniture.
Aubrey’s basketball team!

I made this cute pool sign for our backyard
My flowers that my mom bought me for Mother’s Day last year are looking beautiful still.
Aubrey takes the cutest pictures with her friends. This picture was taken before they got on the bus to go to one of their games.
Wednesday, May 26 Carter’s Cub Scout troop did their pinewood derby. This was very exciting because Carter had made his car a year ago and it was canceled due to Covid so it was fun getting a chance to actually race his car that he had built.

Thursday, May 27 was Carter’s first baseball game.He sure looks handsome in his uniform.

Friday, May 28 I didn’t have to work for the first time since Carter had gone back to school so it was fun to be able to walk and pick him up with the doggies.

Aubrey‘s basketball season came to an end the end of May. They did so great and she met such good new friends. Her coach was Mrs. Martinez who was her core teacher and the assistant coach was her wife. They had a wonderful time and they were undefeated. They should’ve won the tournament but didn’t because another junior high school decided to play their varsity girls on our JV girls. Even though our JV girls had to play their varsity girls we only lost by two points. So I would say that they were undefeated! It was great to watch the girls improve every game. Plus Aubrey made some best friends from the team which is so awesome!
Baseball on the other hand was a struggle this season. It was sad that dad wasn’t coaching and I think I got used to his coaching that having another coach coach Carter which was not great. The team that Carter was put on was very very competitive and only would play their son or their sons friends in the infield so Carter had to play outfield a lot or sit on the bench. This made me super upset and annoyed since Carter is a very good baseball player. Carter was probably one of the only players that could actually hit and get on base. For some reason the coach would always put Carter at the end of the lineup and every game we lost. I think we lost because he was not coaching the kids and only letting his kids play who are not even good. It was a struggle to watch but it was still fun to be outside watching baseball again. And we were super proud to watch whenever Carter did get to play!
Saturday, May 29 we went as a family to the movies for the first time since before Covid! What a treat it was to go to the movie theater and have movie theater popcorn! We went to see Quiet Place two it was so good!!!

After the movie we went and had dinner at a new restaurant in town called bag of crab. What a fun experience it was!!!
And so modern! The waitress was a virtual cat.

Another project I did in May was I put together this fun wall outside to hang out towels. My friend Mary had done something similar in her backyard and I thought it was a great idea!
The pool sign that I made goes great on the wall in our little sit down area.
Monday, May 31 was memorial day. We had a spur of the moment supinger party and invited everyone over for swimming and hamburgers. It was such a fun day!

We are officially ready for summer! Bring on the hill now that we have a pool we can take it. May was such a fun month and we are looking forward to summer.
