Teacher Appreciation Lunch

The Peterson PTC put on our annual teacher appreciation lunch Thursday May 7th.  Last year I helped out with this event and it was so much fun so I was excited when they asked me to help again.  I was a little nervous this time around because last time I was just an assistant but this time was the coordinator for all the decorations.  It was exciting but at the same time nerve racking to be in charge of an event that over 100 people would be attending not mention my daughters teachers and future teachers.
Nicole the PTC Vice President was over seeing the whole event and she was in charge of the food this time and did an an amazing job.  It definitely was an up grade from last years salad bar.  We served Penni pasta with salad and rolls as you see on the Menu sign I made.  For dessert the lady that signed up did not come through :( It's really hard to count on people sometimes she was going to make a lemon dessert to go with our yellow theme but wasn't able to do that so the President (also the girl scout leader) had some girl scout cookies that said thank you on them for a last minute fix.  I was very happy with how it came out and so grateful for the mom that got all the white lines cleaned and pressed it really made the room pop with elegance, which is hard to do in an elementary school cafeteria.  We had saved up enough money to give each teacher, staff, and administrator a gift card to Target and I just love the gift table banner that I did.  It was a great event and came together wonderfully.

For the flowers I bought 6 huge bouquets from Costco.  4 all yellow ones, 1 green and white mix and another green with some other colors and I was able to put 6 large and 10 small bouquets together.  I was pretty excited and felt kind of like a florist.
Each table had a teacher's quote on it.  I had Mary who is actually the director at Sonshine (Carter's future kindergarten) help me with those.  They came out so cute.
 This was the event team.
I'm not sure what the lady on the lefts name is she helped serve the food the day of and I have not seen her at a PTC meeting before but she was very sweet.  Then me, Nicole the (VP) and Kelly the Secretary.  She did the beverage station and helped serve.
This is what my kitchen table looked like the day before the event:
It was really fun and I loved working with the other moms.  I'm proud to be part of such an amazing group at Aubrey's school.  The PTC does a lot for the school. We are in charge of all the fundraisers, events at school and the field trips.  Actually just last Thursday I was voted in as the new Co-VP so I'm excited to help and serve even more this coming up year.
The great thing about helping out is sometimes there is left overs and I was shocked with all that Niclole sneaked into my car after the event!!

I had enough to feed an army! It worked out great because I called the missionaries and since they didn't have any plans I sent them home with a huge care package and then we enjoyed the rest.
The week of the luncheon was teacher appreciation week so of course Aubrey made a sweet gift to the best teacher ever Ms. Buttrey!

Carter's Lego Party

Carter LOVES Lego's.  He is just like his daddy and would build with Lego's all day if he could.  I think this is a good sign that he will grow up to be an engineer too.  Carter is still talking about our Lego land trip we took last summer and how much fun he had on all the rides, meeting a real Lego guy and building a race car and boat to race.  Carter has also became a huge fan of the Lego movie and plays a Lego video game on the wiiU any chance he gets.  When I asked what kind of birthday party he wanted you can only guess what he picked....Lego's!
Him and I had so much fun planning his Lego party.  I actually showed him my pinterest and he went to town pinning everything he wanted at his party.  He was actually the planner of everything.  He picked what he wanted his invitation and cake to look like.  He also picked the crafts and games he wanted to play.

Titi worked her cake magic and made Carter his dream Lego cake.
We could not find a Lego pinata anywhere.  I had pinned an idea for a DIY but never found time to work on it.  Carter spotted this taco pinata at Target and said mom it could be for taco Tuesday in the movie! Wow that's thinking outside of the box amazing idea little guy!!!

Our biggest most exciting decorations for sure was the Lego town that we all worked on 3 weeks leading up to the party.
Spencer saved all his Lego sets he had as a kid.  It's amazing to me that his parents and him saved all his toys.  He had all the sets in there original boxes with directions! It was a big project but so much fun.  Carter was very proud of it and has loved playing with it!
Our bounce house is still a big hit.
 Another trip down memory lane......
Crazy these 4 our still friends! Samuel, Payton, Carter and Michelle all the same age May-Aug birthdays!
Carter and his good friends, Colton and Alex
Carter was so lucky to have so many friends come celebrate with him!! His guest list was: Colton, Cooper, Alex, Matthew, Michelle, Ethan, Peyton, Samuel, Mary, Nash, Lyla, Carrie, Kendall and Aubrey.  When everyone first got there they played in the Lego town, jumped, ate finger foods (I didn't get a picture of the food:(  ) It was fruit, veggie tray, cheese & crackers and chip & dips.

After all the guest arrived we started with our craft stations we had a coloring station.  It was color a Lego guy with Lego crayons we made:
We then had paint a Lego guy magnet. Aubrey helped with that station
They came out really cute.
The 3rd station was make a Lego face mask.  Papa and Titi ran that station.
 Papa is so much fun!

Then we came inside to build our Lego race cars to race.

 That was lots of fun!
Then we played "Honey where are my pants?"
Then it was gift time.
Always a hectic time! It's so hard because all the kids are so excited to give the birthday kid there gift and excited to see what others got so it gets kind of crazy and wild.  Plus I'm so worried that my kid is saying thank you and worried that things will get lost so it's just stressful but fun.

Cake time!!!
That's my favorite time! I love singing and hearing friends sing and seeing how happy Carter was! It made me happy to see him enjoying his party.
The cake was so yummy!!
Pinata time!! We used a bat this time instead of the pull strings.  It was fun but at times kind of scary.

Everyone got a turn and then the when it was the big kids turn it broke.

Here are a few other Lego set ups we had around the house.
A Lego Friend area with Aubrey's Lego's:
 and a Lego Movie area:
It was an awesome party!! I was proud with how it came out and how happy my little guy was!! He makes me so happy.
Some family pictures:

Carter was so excited to get a bunch of new Lego sets to work on!
and he went straight to work and has been doing a set a day all on his own!!
After the party both sets of grandparents and Titi stayed for a pizza party.  We love having our family close to be a part of these special days!
We were lucky to get to have grandma and grandpa spent the night Saturday night.  We ended the night watching a family movie and then crashed it was a great day!
