Aubrey's 10th Birthday

February 6, 2018
I can't even believe that we have a kid that is double digits now!!  Aubrey how did you get so big?!?!! We love that you are growing into so such a beautiful young lady but it sure is a reality check when we stop and realize our little baby is now becoming a pre-teen!
We had a wonderful day on Tuesday February 6th celebrating the most perfect girl ever!!!
Aubrey woke up to her decorated door and balloons throughout the house.

There were also lots of gifts and decorations downstairs too...

She couldn't wait and since it was pretty early we went straight into opening gifts.
Carter was excited to pick her out a fingerling...

Aubrey was thrilled to get her very own magic box full of fun tricks.  She also really wanted the science kit for her American Girl dolls and lots of squishes (her favorite thing right now!)
Then it was time for breakfast.  I told her I would make what ever she wanted and she decided on a pop tart, berries and gogurt!
and of course pink lemonade to drink (her fav)
Usually the kids take the day off school but since I work there in the mornings now we decided it would be fun to go just for the morning.  That way I could do my work and she could pass out cookies to a her class.
Her and her friends came to visit me at recess...
I love getting to see my kids throughout the day.
When I got off work at 12:30 I picked Aubrey up from her class and signed her out for the rest of the day.  We went to lunch her choice, Panera! (man was I in luck that would be my pick too!)

Then we went to Hobby Lobby and got some stuff for her party and to make American Girl crafts.  Then it was already time to pick Carter up.  How cute is a girl in Aubrey's class to give her a couple stuffed animals for her birthday!
Once we got home we opened the magic box and started to learn lots of tricks.  Daddy also got home early so he could play with us.
 Love, love, love this picture!!
Then Aubrey and Carter made signs and tickets for their magic show later that evening....
 How cute are they?!?!!
Then it was time for dinner.  Aubrey picked her favorite place, Pizza Factory! We had yummy pizza and played games.  We also did table prizes there.

After dinner we came home and enjoyed an amazing magic show!
Then it was cake time.  Well brownie time! Aubrey requested a brownie cake.

After cake we played a few rounds of Exploding Kitten's.
It was a fabulous day! I love how Aubrey has a big smile in every picture! I think it was one of her favorite days ever!
Dear Aubrey,
I can't believe you are 10 today! You are growing up way to fast.  You are such a wonderful daughter.  You are thoughtful, loving, caring, smart, beautiful and wonderful in every way. We feel so blessed to call you ours.  You have the best stories and are so creative.  You love science right now and are very inquisitive about how things work.  You love making slime and now that you have 2 gallons of glue on hand you make slime pretty much everyday.  You love to sing and are really good at it.  You are shy and bashful at times.  I find it hard to come up with extracurricular activities for you.  You don't want to do dance, you are not interested in piano or any other instrument right now and you don't want to do choir.  You like your home time.  You do love to read and are part of the book club at school.  Also you love basketball and are very good at it.  I'm trying to talk you into softball or volleyball for when basketball season is over so we will see.  You are a great friend and really care for others and their feelings.  It's been rough dealing with "mean girls" at school right now but your love and ability to not hold grudges makes me learn a lot from you.  Even though I'm sad to see you grow so fast it's also so much fun starting to share clothes and shoes with you.  I also love watching movies and shows with you.  We watched the series of Anne with an E on netflix and loved that time together.  You always crack us up with your one liners.  Every chance I get to be with you I take it.  You also love your daddy time.  We love you Aubrey and can't wait to see what this whole year has in store for you!  Happy 10th Birthday!!

The start of February

February was off to an excellent start!  Thursday 2/1 Aubrey was awarded with Honor Roll for the second semester.  We missed last semesters ceremony since we were in Florida so that was fun being a part of it this time.

Aubrey is an amazing student! She takes school very seriously and always strives to do her best! Her favorite subjects in school right now are reading and writing.  She is on the student council and loves going to meetings and helping to make her school a fun place.  She also is in the book club and loves sharing her passion of reading with all her friends.  Her homework load this year is nothing! This allows her lots of time at home to read, do science experiments, and art.  She is having a wonderful 4th grade experience.  Mrs. Taylor is a dream teacher! She is so much fun and truly cares for each of her students like her own kids! We are so proud of you Aubrey!
Friday 2/2 Carter got Student of the Month!! This was a huge accomplishment for him.  Carter has lots of energy and has had to pull his name on the behavior chart a few times in 2nd grade. "It's so hard to stay still and not be funny" is what he tells me everyday!  But ever since we came back from Christmas break he has done amazingly well and has not had to move his name once.  He also has been more responsible and helping Mrs. Haar! She has been so impressed with his behavior and his helpfulness she awarded him with Student of the Month!! We are very proud of him!
Carter is also a great student.  He LOVES art time! He also is a big reader and spends lots of free time in the library.  He just took his reading level test and he is reading at a 5th grade level! I still can't believe I have such great readers! I was never a reader so it surprises me that they love it so much but it also makes me so happy to see them enjoy it! Carter also loves math! Every week they do panther math and he has moved up to the 5 minute time limit for over 100 problems! So proud of our little guy!
On Fridays since I volunteer in Carter's class in the afternoon I have been packing my lunch and staying at school after I teach. The kids come and hang out with me.
I love seeing this cutie!!
Aubrey invited her group of friends to come have lunch in my room that day.
This particular Friday I actually got to help out in Aubrey's class.  They did a debate.  They didn't get to pick what they were debating about.  Aubrey had to argue that reading was bad! That is hard to do when you love to read! She did a good job.
My job that day was to have the kids do the Pepsi vs. Coke challenge.  It was a blind tasting and then they had to vote which one they liked more.  Pepsi won!
Saturday 2/3 Nana and Papa came out for the games! We love having them in town and showing off our super talented basketball players!

After the games we went and had a nice brunch/lunch at Bob Cat Diner.
Monday 2/5 was Student of the Month lunch treat.  They get to eat their lunch in the middle of the cafeteria and then have ice cream!
I went over and said a quick hi to Aubrey that day too.  She was a little embarrassed!
Can't believe this is my last picture I have of my 9 year old daughter!
She turns the big 10 tomorrow!!!
