Trip to Utah

It's hard to believe it's almost been a month since our Utah vacation.  It's even harder to believe that this was our first trip back to Utah since we lived there 11 years ago.  We have been meaning to plan a trip to Utah for a very long time but it just never happened.  I was playing around on the computer looking at Alligent airlines and I was blown away by the low costs for air fare so we just had to go. Since Veteran's day was coming up I thought that would be the perfect long weekend to go out so we did.  We flew out of Oakland airport on Thursday November 10th.  We had a great flight.
We landed in to Provo which was super cool! I think the airport is semi new because it wasn't there when we lived there.  The terminal was beautiful and the staff were all wonderful.  I had set up a standard rental car but we were so lucky that guy hooked us up with a luxury SUV.  Spencer was in heaven.
Our first stop was our first house 1323 South 1180 West Orem, Utah.  So many great memories in that apartment.  The kids laugh and say that we use to be homeless because we tell them about how after we got married we didn't have a place to live yet.  We stayed at Spencer's parents for a week and then my parents for a week and then we packed our rental truck and had no house for a couple days.  We of course stayed in hotels but the kids like to say we were homeless.  Anyways once we made it to Utah we found this perfect apartment to call home for the first 6 months of our marriage and we loved it! It's the one with the deck in the middle.  It looked the exact same.

After our trip down memory lane we were starving so tried a place our nephew suggested I think called 180 Tacos.  They had all different kinds of tacos like buffalo chicken, Thai, 3 kinds of fish tacos and so much more.  Spencer got us the sampler and we had fun trying all the combinations.
After the first bite I knew we would be making a drive thru McDonald's for the kids!  It was good just a little too different for their taste buds.
After lunch we drove over to BYU to show the kids daddy's school.  He had a great time giving us a tour of the Engineering building where he spent most of his time.  This picture was taken in front of the study room.

After walking by all his classrooms we went to the BYU book store.  Talk about Mormon heaven! You can get everything there.  I forgot how it was being that it has been over 10 years since I have been there.  When we lived there I was a newly convert so I took for guaranteed having all the Mormon stuff at my finger tips now that I have been part of the church for so long and have lived with out this kind of church stuff at my finger tips I went a little crazy stocking up on stuff.

After BYU we headed to Thanksgiving Point.  We were all so tired.  Both Carter and Aubrey fell a sleep in the car and when we got to TP we parked and then Spencer took a nap too while I catched up on e-mails and pinterest.  After everyone woke up we went to a really fun interactive museum.  We originally planned to do the dinosaur museum but when we heard about this other one the kids voted for that.  How cool to have a little kid door to go into.

The museum was really cool and the kids loved all the hands on stuff.

We could have stayed there for a couple more hours but it was time to head to Farmington to have dinner with the family.  We stayed at Spencer's brother David's house.  Him and Carrie have a beautiful home with a whole downstairs for us to stay in.  The kids loved it for the ping pong and air hockey tables.  There was also a whole gym too.  David and Carrie were the best hostess.  They set up a family dinner for us.  The people who came were: David, Carrie  (3 of there kids and spouses) Davie, Kiana, Brandon, Crystal and Kaitlyn. Then Spencer's niece Megan and her husband Ryan and there 4 kids Cohan, Crew, Call and Capri.  Spencer other niece Stacy and her daughter Cozette and her boyfriend (I can't remember his name). It was a great crowd and we all had fun having Cafe Rio salads, visiting and hanging out.  The kids had a blast with their new found cousins.
Friday Nov. 11th we woke up and I went to Crystal's gym at her apartment to run with her and Kiana and Spencer worked out with the guys at David's home gym.  The kids watched shows.  After we got ready the kids and Spencer went fishing with David, Davie and Brandon while I went shopping and out to lunch with Carrie, Crystal and Kiana.  The kids had a blast fishing.  They caught a lot and the weather was perfect!

 I love this picture!

After our days out we all went back to the house for some pizza and then it off again! They really wanted to take us bowling and to the arcade.  It was already like 8pm when we left and I was getting a little worried and frustrated to be taking the kids out so late but it all worked out and we had a good time.  It's okay to be out until 12am on vacation with a 8 and 6  year old, right? These young couples are party animals!

With all the big cousins playing the kids got oodles of tickets and bought so many fun prices!
 What a fun group!

Saturday morning we woke up and drove to Ogdon to meet up with one of my BEST friends, Haley and her family.  We became very close when she lived in Merced and I cried for days when she moved.  We have stayed in close contact which is hard to do when I don't have a Facebook but we still do it! We talk on he phone, send e-mails and even write old fashion letters and send them in the mail we have a true friendship!
We meet at a fun jump place so the kids could jump while we talked.  It was great! We ended up jumping and sliding too.
I can't get over how much Hazel looks like Mitchell! I use to baby sit Mitchel a lot so it was fun seeing him too!
Luke, Mitchell, Carter, Hazel and Aubrey.
After jumping our hearts out we went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch.
After lunch we walked around and saw the Ogdon temple.
After we said our sad good byes we drove to Bountiful to meet up with Spencer's sister Terry.  Terry and Kimball were just getting home that day from Costa Rica so it was great how it worked out to meet up with them.  First we had to do a pit stop at Nelsons.
OMG the best ice cream in the world!!

We took a beautiful drive through Bountiful while we waited for Terry to get home.  We got to see the temple and the kids played at a cute park.  We then got to Terry's and had fun visiting there.  Megan, Ryan and their kids came over so Aubrey and Carter were excited to play more with them.
After we played and talked we called up David and Carrie and arranged for us all to go out to dinner to Chinese.  We had a huge group!

Carter found a twin! Him and Crew were 2 peas in a pod!

I think these 3 out of the siblings look the most a like
 Terry, Spencer and David.
After dinner we went back to David's and stayed up super late playing games and talking.
Sunday came way to fast and it was time to pack up and go! We were so sad to say good bye to David and Carrie they were so sweet and made us feel like royalty in there gorgeous house.  They were so wonderful and generous! After our good buys we started our treck back to Provo.  I was sad we didn't have time to walk around Temple Square this trip.  We did get to drive by it really quick
We stopped by Applo Burgers for lunch.  It wasn't as good as we remember.

I really wanted to take family pictures while in Utah.  I had packed coordinating clothes and everything even Spencer's niece is a professional photographer but it just didn't work out we were so busy! I still wanted to capture a few family pictures so we went to a park right by the airport and took a few on our own.

We got back in Oakland around 4pm and then drove all the way home.  It was a long travel day but so worth it.  We had a great time and we realized we need to go out to Utah more often to visit.
