The first weekend in December has become our annual family vacation to San Fransisco. We did it last year and loved it so we did it again this year and I can see us doing it in the future since we loved it so much. We drove up to Hayward on 12/2 and stayed at mom and dad sups for the night. Saturday 12/3 we woke up excited and ready for a fun adventure. This year instead of taking the bart into the city we took the ferry. Spencer and I use to do this all the time on dates so we though it would be fun for the kids to experience traveling into the city by boat. The ferry picks you up from Jack London Square in Oakland. We got there early to make the first ferry. We had a yummy bagel and then waited on the Pier.
Since it was pretty chilly that morning we opted for sitting inside.
The view was really cool from our seats.
We did venture out and to check out the sights and to explore the ferry. The lady in this picture is such a photo bomber! I had like 8 of her just standing there smiling. It's like can you please look away or sit down!
We made it into the city at like 10am which was super nice there were hardly any people and we just got to walk around check things out. Carter's favorite thing was chasing pigeons and seagulls.
Last time we were in the city we had heard about this penny arcade with lots of old games. We had time this year to go check it out. It was really cool! My mom and aunt always talk about this laughing lady that freaked them out as kids so we got a picture to send them.
There were so many fun and very random old games and I guess you called mini shows. It cost a quarter to watch these monkeys play instruments.
The kids loved and of course Aubrey found the old fashion crane game and had fun catching little toys.
After games it was on to Boudin to see our favorite Santa from last year.
He is such a good Santa's helper! He told the kids to say fart when we took the picture because there is know way that you could say fart with out smiling.
We then walked around and window shopped. SF has so many cool things to look at.
We then made our way over to Pier 39 and did some shopping and saw the seals.
We had worked up quit an appetite and all decided on having lunch at the Rain Forest Cafe.
An amazing balloon artist lady came by and made the kids a really cool spider for Carter and a palm tree with a monkey for Aubrey. She was super nice and he kids loved it! Dad and I were not to sure how we would carry these huge things the rest of the day but we manged.
After lunch we went to a yummy candy store and then called a Uber to take us to Union Square. This was Spencer's first Uber ride it went good other then Carter left his vest and mitten's in the car! I'm still trying to get those back. Anyways we made it to the St. Francis to see the huge ginger bread castle.
Then we did lots of shopping at my favorite place, Macy's! After shopping we watched a street performer. This is Aubrey teaching him the dab dance.
We then decided to take a Uber back to the ferry building area. We were not spending the night this year in SF. We had decided to just stay all day and then spend some more time with grandma and grandpa. We were going to ice skate at the embarcadero but when we got there and saw how crowded it was we decided to save that for another time.
The ferry building was super cool with shops and fun treat stops. We all got a yummy ice cream.
It was then time to board the ferry for Oakland. The lights are so beautiful.
After we got off the ferry we did some more shopping at World Market and then had a really yummy dinner at Chevy's. We picked up some Krispie Kream for breakfast and then went home to spend time with grandma and grandpa. It was a great day!
