Like I said in the last post we took Friday the 24th off to go up to the bay area to visit with family from Utah. It was such a nice treat to see Spencer's sister Terry and husband Kimball it had been about 3 years. We drove to Hayward on Friday and meet up at our favorite burger joint, Val's. It was a great lunch and fun catching up. We then took the kids to the movies to see The Book of Life. After that we went home to grandma and grandpas and relaxed, visited, played at least 10 rounds of rummikub and enjoyed Chinese food. It was great being with them. Saturday we woke up to rain, yay! Here are some family pictures we took before we left:
After saying our good byes we drove to Sonora where we got to go to Tit's new place and get ready for trick or treating down the main street in Sonora. We were a little worried since it was raining really hard. Aubrey started to sing a song for the rain to stop just for the activity and sure enough the rain stopped right at 4pm when we left to start walking. Nana made Aubrey this beautiful cloak for her Anna costume (isn't she amazing!) and she did Carter's super cool goatee
It was really fun. All the stores had someone in the front giving out candy. Most of them were in costume too. In front of the used book store they gave out free children books. The rain/cold made it feel super fall..y. I guess we also made it on the Sonora local news paper but I haven't seen it yet. After our hard work of walking up and down the street getting candy we all warmed up in the local coffee shop and looked through the goods:
Then we went up to Columbia for the pumpkin lighting event. I think the rain scared a lot of people off since there was hardly anyone there but we still had fun.
Columbia has so many great backgrounds for pictures as you will see.
We then ventured up to the old school house. It was pretty spooky up there. We even saw a grave yard. It was the perfect day with the gloomy weather and being so close to Halloween.
It started getting dark so we headed to the Peppery for dinner, so yummy!
Then we got to sleep over at Tit's house for the first time. We enjoyed lots of candy and watching Hocus Pocus.
Sunday morning Nana and Papa came over and we had a delicious brunch made by Titi/Laura. The pumpkin cinnamon rolls are still calling my name. After that we all went to the movies to see Alexander and the No Good Bad Day. It was a really fun movie and a great weekend being with both our families!
