Camping

Our family camping trip was Friday June 30th-July 2nd up at Pincrest Lake.  We had so much fun.  Packing for camping is crazy! Spencer was shocked at how full our car got and kept asking me, "is this the last bag?" He at one point was getting pretty mad and said "we are bringing more then we bring on a week long trip to Disneyland!!"  It's different when you not only have to pack clothes but also have to pack living quarters, food, entertainment and clothes! It fills up fast!  Our drive up the mountains was crowded but still fun!
Once we got to our beautiful campsite B28 we saw Papa and Gaga already there set up.  They helped us unpack and then we went straight into building the tent.
Our campsite was amazing! It was huge and very shady.  You can see Papa's red tent in the distance and then Gaga's tent was on the other side of us so we were right in the middle.  I love the Pincrest camp ground.  We have never gotten a site that we didn't like.
Once we got the tent up Spencer and I started cooking dinner while the kids, papa and gaga went to the general store to get firewood.  How fun to get to go in Papa's jeep with out a roof.

Once everyone got back to camp we had dinner.  We made polish sausage, hot dogs, macaroni salad, watermelon and we tried chili cheese fries on the campfire for the first time which were really fun and super tasty.
After dinner we took a walk over to the lake.  I'm so glad we did it because it was so beautiful and calm.  The next day it was so crowded so this was a nice peaceful experience.

We then went back to camp and enjoyed a campfire with marshmallow's, smores and scary stories.  Carter was so cute telling the big toe story to all of us.  I also never will forget my gandma's yellow bucket!
Saturday July 1st we all woke up around 8am excited for a fun day.  Spencer made and amazing breakfast of bacon and eggs.
I attempted another pintersest find of orange cinnamon rolls in orange peels.  Though they look yummy and amazing they came out tasting really weird and smokey.
We then packed our bags for a hike around Pincrest.  We all started on the trek but Spencer and the kids stopped around mile 1.  Gaga, Papa, Deuce and I continued on and made all around the lake around 5 miles total.

 It was beautiful.
Deuce did really well considering all the ups and downs and rocky terrain.
Once we made it all the way around we found the rest of the family plus, Nana and Titi at a nice shady spot near the lake.  We all had a picnic lunch and the kids did a little swimming and playing in the sand.
I was a little disappointed with the amount of people at the lake, all the drinking and the scandalous bathing suits.  Not sure if the 4th of July brought out some weirdo's or what but we had a group right next to us that had barley any clothes and said the F word every other word.  Also the amount of huge blow ups in the lake was ridiculous!  I mean come on a huge swan or unicorn? or the best was a gigantic blow up bull riding device, come on!  It was too bad. I don't think it affected the kids (I like to think not) that much and they had fun playing in the sand.
After the lake we headed back to camp.  Aubrey and Papa worked on a cute American girl campsite.  While the rest of hung out and ate candy.
 How cute is that campsite!
For dinner that night my dad had the idea to go to Mia's a really neat restaurant just 5 minutes away from camp.  It was a nice treat to go out while camping.  Spencer and I shared a salad and pizza and it tasted the best!
What was also really cool is how dog friendly they were! Deuce got to come and enjoy with us and even got his own bowl of water.
After dinner we said good bye to Nana and deuce (he needed anight in A/C on a bed, LOL) and headed back to camp.  I got to have a turn riding in Papa's cool ride! I want a jeep now!
Once back at camp we hung out for a little bit and then went to the outside theater to see the new Minion movie.  Which was hilarious!

That night we got back to camp at around 10pm.  On our way back to camp some how Spencer and the kids got split up from us and got lost! My sister and I eventually got in the car and had to go find them so that was a little bit of an adventure! After we were all back at camp we said good night to Titi and Gaga since they were going back to Sonora and then we went to bed.
Sunday July 2nd we woke up and made pancakes and then started the fun job of packing up.  The kids had made friends with our neighbor campers so that helped them stay busy while we packed.

Once everything was packed we headed down the mountain, picked up deuce and got home around noon.  Then all the laundry and unpacking started!
It was such a fun weekend away.  I absolutely love my childhood memories of camping so I'm so glad we are able to create these memories with our kids.  I'm so grateful that we get to camp with my dad and hear stories of when he camped as a kid.  It's just the best!
