One of Aubrey's birthday gifts was a butterfly habitat. We ordered the caterpillars and they arrived on her birthday party Saturday Feb. 11th. They were so tiny!
As the days went on they grew and grew.
When we got back from our Reno trip we were shocked how big they got!
I totally forgot to take a picture when they were in the cocoons! So silly!! Our first butter fly came out really early early Saturday March 11th right before the basketball games. When we came home around 10am they all had came out. It was so neat!
While they lived as butter flies in our home we talked all about their life cycle and made a little graph. The kids had fun using oil pastel's to color their butterflies.
They came out beautiful!
Monday March 13th we decided to release our pets into the wild. Of course Carter was dressed in his best for the occasion.
They were so fun to see up close and land on us.
One of them had a bent wing which was sad to see but it was fun to be able to touch and hold her.
We put her on our flowers and I'm hoping she was able to fly off another day.
What a fun experience!
