Our 3rd day we decided to do Disneyland again. We took our time that morning getting ready and enjoying the breakfast at the hotel. I even had time to fit in a 3 mile run. It was nice to take our time and then get ready for Disneyland. On the top of our agenda this day was Jedi training and Star Tours. Carter had his light saber all ready for the day.
We had about 30 minutes until the Jedi Training so while Papa went to save us a seat we went to meet Captain America.
Carter was pretty awestruck.
Aubrey was of course complaining about meeting him but when the time came she was excited too.
On to Jedi Training!
Carter has really fell in love with Star Wars just recently. Him and Daddy have watched all 6 movies and have even talked Aubrey and I into watching them now. He also is obsessed with Star Wars Lego's (daddy too!) I have got to get a picture of his collection it is outrageously cool. Carter is doing 12+ Lego sets on his own, it is amazing! Sorry I kind of got off track there back to the Jedi training. Papa got us a great spot to sit front in center. Right before the show was about to start the Jedi's come out and pick 20 kids to go up on stage and be part of the training. Going into it I thought probably every kid gets picked and it wouldn't be a problem but right when the show was about to start 100's of kids piled in. Some where all decked out in Star Wars costumes and some even had signs like "pick me," "Number 1 fan" ect. A little boy by us came into the area with the Make a Wish shirt and he was being guaranteed by the staff behind us that he would be picked. I was quickly becoming aware that this was a competition to get picked and that there was a possibility that Carter might not get a chance. Then the lady next to us with her daughter, Aubrey (ironic) a very big Star Wars fan told me that this was their 6th time watching the show in hopes of getting picked, ahhhhh goodness this is cut throat. So Daddy told Carter he had to wave his light saber in the air and I told him to jump up and down screaming "pick me, pick me!"
Well guess what this handsome Jedi was the first picked!!!
He was elated and I was one proud momma.
The next goal was to get the little Aubrey (not our Aubrey but our new found Star Wars friend Aubrey) next to us up there. We were cheering yelling helping her mom hold her up and the lady was not picking her. I had the idea to give her Carter's light saber to wave around and sure enough she was the last kid picked we were so excited.
The show was so much fun to watch. Carter took his job of learning to be a Jedi very seriously.
At the end he got a certificate and you can just tell how proud he is. I think this is a memory that he will always have I know I sure will.
After the show Nana and Titi surprised the kids with some bubble guns, they absolutely loved them. We all had fun catching bubbles the rest of day. It was fun seeing people of all ages smile and catch bubbles around us.
Up next was Star Tours. I usually get kind of sick on this ride and have actually sat out the last few years when Spencer would go on it but since Carter was so into it I went with it.
It was actually really fun and I didn't get sick.
Then it was time for lunch we had a delicious salad at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe on Main Street. After our salad we tried the famous Matterhorn macaroons that were to die for good.
We then went to get fast passes to Indian Jones and braved the very crowded New Orleans area. It was pretty insane in that part of the park.
We were able to get through the crowd and enjoy the rail road train ride around the whole park. It's crazy that they will close the train for I think a whole year while they are working on the new Star Wars Land. After our trip around we got back off in New Orleans and the whole family except for Carter and I went on Indian Jones. Carter is still to little for that ride and I wasn't a big fan last time I went on it so I was happy to sit that one out. Carter and I played around in the gift shop.
When the gang got off they all looked sick and not happy I guess it was a pretty bouncy rough ride. We then all went to the Tiki room for a yummy dole whip and the show. Such a great treat. After that we went to the Mickey and the Magical Map show. This show is amazing we all really enjoyed it and loved the streamers at the end.
Then we went into Fantasy Land. We enjoyed our relaxing story book boat ride.
It was then time for a sunset ride on Dumbo.
After our ride we all decided that we had done just about everything there was to do it and it was time for some shopping. Nana and Papa found a nice quite area to have a coffee while we did some shopping. The kids were so spoiled between trip money from us they also got money from Nana & papa and Titi so they were able to pick out lots of fun souvenirs.
Carter put most of his money together to get a huge Star Wars Lego good guy ship that he really wanted. Aubrey picked out a very pretty white cat with a very long tail, a baby Mickey and a Night Before Christmas play set. They were excited to show Nana all there finds.
After our shopping we headed back to the hotel. It was sad to say good bye to Disneyland. We have actually debated back and forth about a 100 times to get season passes and we were really close to doing it on this trip. But we decided to wait. If we get them in the summer we might be able to use them 2 summers in a row and maybe even get to see Disneyland at Christmas time with the kids. Also with a lot of things closed for the upgrade of Star Wars Land we wanted to just wait and see. Back at the hotel Carter went straight to work on his new Lego ship and we all relaxed and reflected on our amazing trip together.
Sunday morning we got up and packed the car and headed back home :(
The drive home always seems long and kind of sad but it was nice to all be together talking and playing games. I'm so grateful that we had this opportunity to do this vacation all together. I was sad Scott couldn't go with us but I think we have planted the Disneyland bug back into my parents and I hope we all go together again very soon.
