Cabo Day 3

Monday 2/18 was such a beautiful day!!! It was our first day in Mexico and it was AMAZING!
We woke up to the famous rock arches of Cabo San Lucas.  right outside our stateroom it was a sight to see!  We were all so excited for the adventure that awaited us!

Since they were not letting people off the ship until 10am that day it allowed for Dad and I to have a nice workout (I even fit a fun cycle class in).  Then we all got ready and had a nice breakfast.
In Cabo you board a ferry that takes you to the port.  We were all amazed at how beautiful Cabo was and how it seemed like such a fancy place.  Up until now our only Mexican experiences have been at the boarder or close to it so those areas have a lot of poverty but not Cabo! We saw a private yacht with a helicopter on it.

The weather was amazing!! I wish we could have been in our bathing suits but because we had booked the camel riding excursion that day the reviews said to wear jeans and closed toe shoes so that is what we had on.  Our bus didn't leave until 12 that day so we had a couple hours to walk around the town and check stuff out.
We found some cool surf boards...
and a lady with an iguana which was super cool!!
What wasn't cool was that she just set the iguana on Carter and we started snapping pictures beacuse why not?!?  Well then dad went into his wallet to give her a couple bucks.  He hands her a $5 bill and she says, "no pictures are $10" what the heck we didn't even ask her to put her pet on us and there was no communication about cost.  I just told her "no $5 is good, have a good day." We walked off and in the end she seemed fine so oh well.  It was a neat experience for Carter but we stayed away from people with their pets after that.

We walked around all the shops and found lots of fun things but since we were going to board the bus and ride on a camel I didn't think it was a good idea to have a ton of souvenirs to carry so we decided to just window shop and shop after our excursion.

We got some snacks for the bus ride (Carter's favorite chips)
No one really tells you the truth about distance in Mexico I have learned.  The camel excursion said that you board a bus for a short ride to the coast well it was more like an hour bus ride! Once we finally arrived we were all very excited.
We had read in the reviews that they don't allow you to take pictures with your own camera but you can buy their professional pictures if you want.  I think I went into the day thinking we would buy one or two pictures but we ended up buying them all! When do you ever get to kiss, feed and ride a camel on the beach with the Pacific Ocean in the background?  And you so need documentation of all that so buying the expensive photo package was a must! This was truly an amazing experience that I hope the kids will remember forever  I know I will!!

Oh my goodness it was so awesome!! Really really cool.  The ride was super cool and very long.  It was nice being in the end of the pack and we got the main tour guide that lead Dad and Carter's camel so we got even more information on the camels.
After our wonderful hands on experience it was time to go on a short nature hike through the dessert and learn about cactus.
Then we made our way to an authentic Mexican feast with the ocean in the background.  It was a beautiful back drop.  The food was just okay which was kind of a bummer.
We did get to see a whale in the ocean breaching which was just breath taking!
We also got to enjoy the sunset while the other people on the tour did some tequila tasting.

Then our guide taught us how to make tortillas.

We then started to realize it was almost 5pm and we needed to be back on the ship by 6pm and we still had that hour long bus ride ahead of us.  It felt like the guy was talking so slow and I started to really worry!  I thought.... would the ship leave without us? Now we can't go back to those shops I promised the kids, what are we going to do??? It was really scary!  They finally boarded us on some out door jeep thing that took us to the bus.  Then we finally got on the bus and lets just say I'm surprised that I'm here today writing about our trip! This bus driver drove us through the streets of Mexico like we were in a Nascar race! What took us an hour to get there only took us like 40 minutes to get back! It was crazy! About half way through the bus ride I realized I didn't really need to worry since we booked this through Carnival they aren't going to leave us and sure enough they didn't! We did have to race off the bus and straight to the ferry! The kids were so upset that we could't shop and I was too but I was just happy to still see our ship.
On the ferry back it was the most beautiful nighttime view of our ship....
It felt great to finally be "home" safe and see what our really fun room attendant, Is made for us...
That night they had lots of Dr. Seuss around the ship so we had fun taking crazy pics...
We grabbed a light dinner and some candy for a movie night in the room that evening....
What an amazing first day in Mexico.  We love you Cabo and can't wait to go back and not only wear a bathing suit next time but get Crater the Cabo monkey that he really wanted haha.
