January 2018

I wish I could report that 2018 was off to a great start but that is just not the case.  It's been a hard first month of the year.  It started off with Grandpa Supinger not feeling very well after many tests we are sad to report that he has stage 4 lung Cancer.  This has been hard news to take on and the thought that we might only have 6 more months with him is a very sad possibility.  Also my uncle was hospitalized for mental issues and that has been a huge weight on my side of the family.  And then to top it all off Aubrey's dear pet hamster, Chub's passed away on January 19, 2018.  It's been rough having to talk to the kids about life and death.  It's just not been the way that you want to start a new year off.  We are trying to stay positive and happy for what we do have.  We did have some really fun stuff happen in January despite all the bad news!
Monday January 8th Carter started piano lessons with Walker Murphy (a young man in our ward).  Carter has an amazing way to pick up everything he tries! He is loving piano and has also started a xylophone class at school on Wednesday afternoons.
With the way our house is right now we don't have room for a piano but we hope to in the future.  This portable one will have to do for now.
Upward basketball also started on the 8th but we didn't get pictures.  Daddy is coaching Aubrey's team this year and assistant coaching Carters.  Aubrey's team is The Lady Crimson Tide and they practice Monday nights.  Carter's team is The Lynx and they practice on Thursday nights.  His coach's name in Chris.
We got a lot of rain in the early part of January which we love!!
 Getting some Valentine crafting going....

Dinner with the kids when Spencer had a late meeting.
 Carter's first practice Jan. 11th.
Friday Jan. 12th was Carter's field trip to the Moaning Cavern's.  He was so so so excited to take Daddy with him!

They had a wonderful time.  Daddy got to be the teacher in the caverns since Mrs. Haar didn't want to go down in cave.
Aubrey and I had fun back in Merced she came and visited me at recess.
and then we had a nice date lunch at Panera
We were excited when Carter and dad got home to tell us all about their trip.  Dad got Carter some cool magnet rocks at the gift shop and he he scared me with "mom look I got my ears pierced!"
Saturday 1/13 we just had a nice relaxing morning and then went and tried the new chicken place in town.
then we took the kids to the nickle arcade and watched a family movie that night.
Sunday Jan. 14th we went to church and then Monday Jan. 15th was Martin Luther King Day.  I took the kids to Paddington 2 with our fun friends the Harrison's!
We also did some more Valentine's day crafts.
 and Aubrey had basketball practice.

Aubrey had the best week of school Jan. 16-19th! Her class got to go to the STEM center in town Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Then she had the symphony on Friday! It was a busy/fun week for her.
Wednesday Jan. 17th was activity day.  I wanted to do a healthy day activity.  So we had a yogurt bar, talked about being healthy and did a fun work out video.

I love spaying on my kids at recess!! Carter has really taken to tetherball and would play it all day if he could!
Friday Jan. 19th was the start to our girl weekend! I was excited to sign Aubrey out early and we packed up and headed to Sacramento!
We were excited to have all the girls together! Nana, Titi, Aunt Pat, Aunt Shelly, Aubrey and I.
First stop Aubrey's favorite burger place for dinner in Sacramento!
Saturday Jan. 20th we woke up early and got ready for the Women's March in Sacramento.  The March was very empowering and great that so many women came out to support women rights.  I'm not usually an activist but with what is going on right now and how women are being treated I felt good getting out there and saying "girl power" It was nice for Aubrey to see that too!

I think there was over 30K people! So many fun costumes and signs!

After marching it was time for lunch! Chevy's all of our favorites.  Since it's almost Aubrey's bday we told them we were celebrating her!

After lunch we went and did some fun shopping.  That night Aubrey worked on a craft and we all enjoyed a movie and pizza.

Sunday Jan. 21st we had a yummy brunch at a waffle place.
I would have to say mine looks more like a dessert than a meal.
It was sad to say good bye to all our favorite ladies but we were excited to get home to our boys!
One stop on the way home, Ikea!
We found the perfect chair for Carter's room!
Aubrey was so excited to surprise Carter with all the gifts and treats we got him while we were away.
When we got home the boys were not home yet.  They had a very hard weekend.  It started on Friday when they were cleaning Chub's (we had thought she had pink eye since she was not opening her eyes).  We read on the computer that if you use a Qtip and warm water you can clean her eyes so we had been doing that all week thinking that is what was going on but now we know that it was her body shutting down.  It was so hard to see her slowly get weaker and weaker each day.  Aubrey and I had said our good byes before we left for Sacramento just because we had a feeling that she wasn't getting better.  Well when Dad was cleaning her eyes Friday night he called me and told me that he didn't think she was going to make it through the night.  While Carter and him were holding her a little later they realized she was really struggling with breathing and was super weak. While they were petting her she took her last breath! It was so sad and I felt horrible that Carter had to witness that but grateful that Chub's got to feel the love from her family all the way to the end.  Dad put her in a nice box and waited for us to come home to barry her.  After their traumatic night they went to the bay area on Saturday to go help out Spencer's parents and when they got there noticed that Mom sup was struggling to breath.  They keep an eye on it all Saturday and by Sunday when it still wasn't better Spencer, Carter, and grandpa took her to the ER she was diagnosed with pneumonia! They were at the hospital all day on Sunday! Thank goodness she is doing better now but it has been a hard couple of weeks for them.  Now we are faced with trying to figure out what they should do.  It's a really sad situation.  We were so happy to see our boys late Sunday night.  All these sad things make you really appreciate the small stuff.
Like how cute my boy looks in a window seal looking at the fog!
and doing science experiments just for fun!
We also worked on painting rocks and we had a nice good bye service for Chubs.  We miss her dearly!  She was such a good hamster.  I remember always having hamsters that would bite and not like to be held! Chubs was the oppsite she loved snuggling! She would even fall asleep in our hands.  She was so calm and had the sweetest face! We love he very much!
Friday Jan. 23rd was PJ day at school.  Aubrey and Carter looked so cute!

I even got to see all of the girls dressed up at recess time!
That night was the annual girl scout dance.  It was a sports theme this year.  They looked SO cute!
They had a great time.  Dancing the night away and enjoying burgers for dinner.  They also won the game and got a fun prize so it was a great night!

Carter and I had a date of our own.  He wanted McDonald's and I want El Pollo Loco so we got both.
Then we went shopping at Target and out for a treat after.
Saturday January 24th was the kids first games of the season! So glad they are both at the same location and are all back to back!
Carter's team played first! They won! Carter got 6 of the baskets!!!

Then it was Aubrey's turn.  Her team did great too.  They didn't win but they came close and Aubrey got 3 baskets!

The kids worked together and made us brownies later that weekend.
We ended January with a ride to the park and some playing.  The weather has felt like spring!

We also got our mail boxes ready for some Valentine's that are sure to come for the next few weeks!
