Can you believe that our little angel is already 8? Where has the time gone? So many people always tell me that kids grow up way to fast and it's entirely true. We have watched Aubrey blossom into such an amazing, smart, beautiful young lady. Her birthday this year has been pretty amazing. We have been celebrating it for about 2 weeks and we still have her baptism to look forward to in the end of March. She is one lucky girl but in all honesty I feel like the lucky one to get to call her my daughter! This is a bit of a spoiler alert I'm in the process of working on her baptism invitations but it was just to pretty not to have at the start of her birthday post.
We celebrated Aubrey's birthday at school on Friday 2/5 the day before her real day. She was excited to bring her favorite store bought cookies and to have her class sing to her.
I was happy it was my day to be in the classroom that day.
They always have an award ceremony the first Friday of the month. Aubrey got a math and reading award that day.
I took her and Carter out to lunch that day for her birthday.
For some reason Aubrey's birthday weekend this year was the busiest weekend ever. We were so excited for her real day to be on a Saturday and to have her party that day. We found out that Basketball picture day was on that day so after debating long and hard we decided that doing 2 games and 2 different picture times, family birthday celebrations and party would be to much so we scheduled her party for the following Saturday 2/13. Once we had that squared away another huge time conflict came up. Spencer's work offered all the managers and their spouses a paid weekend away in Monetary. They had a few seminars plus a fancy dinner at the aquarium with a private tour. It sounded amazing but I was not going to miss my daughters birthday so I opted out. Spencer was able to travel there just for the day Friday and the dinner that night. I was sad to not be able to go with him but I knew if I went I would just be stressed with all the things I needed to get done for Aubrey.
Friday afternoon Aubrey and I dropped Carter off at a friends and went and got our nails done.
I found out that the beauty school does your nails for free on your birthday week and then my nails were only like $7! They did a great job and we enjoyed our time together.
That night the kids and I made dinner and then watched a movie. Spencer got home really late that night and then it was time for wrapping and getting Aubrey's birthday door all ready.
Saturday 2/6 was finally here Aubrey was very excited!!!
Saturday birthdays are the very best!! We went straight to opening gifts and it was just so nice knowing that we were all going to be together for the whole day.
One gift we saved for later. We had planned a little surprise for Aubrey for later in the day that we didn't want her to know about. So after most of the gifts were opened I made her her favorite breakfast and then we all got ready for the Basketball games.
We were so excited that Nana and Papa came down for the day with us. It was such a special treat to have them with us and to share in all the birthday and basketball fun.
first up Carter's game at 9am.
It was the most perfect game to have Nana and Papa watch. Carter made 3 baskets in a row and was so proud of himself. They don't keep score but I have to admit that I do on my phone. I'm too much of a competitive person not too. LOL Carter's team has won every game they have played. The score for this game was 38 to 10 his team is unbelievable.
Carter and his best buddy Colton.
Okay back to the birthday girl! After Carter's game Daddy had to take him to go get his pictures done and then Nana, Papa, Aubrey and I went to Starbucks for a treat before her game started at 11am.
Aubrey did amazing also that day she got 3 baskets and again I keep score with her team too it was 20 to 6 Aubrey's team won. They are also such a great team and all play very well they have wone every game xcept the very first one. We had a great time cheering from the sidelines for her.
After her game we had to rush over to yet another church for her pictures. I laughed because in one day my parents got to see three different Church's in Merced. They really got the grand tour.
After our very Basketball crazy morning it was then time to celebrate Aubrey's birthday at her favorite lunch place Round Table Pizza buffet.
We did our table prizes there.
Nana and Papa even got a table prize.
Lunch was so yummy and fun.
It then was time to get home and open up her gift from Nana and Papa.
She went out in the front to bounce her new ball and found such a fun huge surprise.
How awesome are Nana and Papa!!!! The kids have already got so many hours of play out of the new hoop. It's just too much fun! Spencer and I have also been having a blast with it. Carter got lucky in this whole deal but then again Aubrey sure plays on his trampoline from last year a whole heck of a lot.
It was so nice of them to do that for the kids. They always do such great gifts that keep the kids active and healthy. We had a great day with Nana and Papa and we were sad to see them go but we had one more surprise for the birthday girl.
We packed up the car and headed north she had no idea what we were doing. As you can see that morning and early afternoon sure wore someone out:
We pulled into a hotel kind of in the middle of know where in Lathrop which was super random and Aubrey was kind of like what are we doing? Well after we got in our room we let her open her last gift......
Disney on Ice tickets!!!
She was very excited and the reason we picked this random hotel was because it had indoor pool and it was close to the Ice stadium where the show was. We had so much fun on our random hotel night back in January we thought it would be fun to reenact it on her birthday. She was very surprised.
We spent the early evening swimming.
Then we got ready for dinner I pulled up a bunch of ideas for fun restaurants in the area but guess what she picked......
Yep good old McDonald's! I was really pushing for another choice but since it was her day we gave in and enjoyed hamburgers and fries. After dinner she wanted to walk around Target (I'm always down for that!) Then we had Slurpee's.
When we got back to the hotel we did her cake.
Daddy freaked her out about the smoke detectors so she is really worried in this picture.
The next morning we slept in and had a great breakfast at the hotel and then drove to Stockton for the show. We were all very excited.
It was Frozen on Ice. Aubrey was in heaven that is still her most favorite Disney movie.
The show was awesome! I loved how they had all the original Disney characters at first.
They also had a bunch of Disney couples.
She LOVED it! I had such a great time looking over at her and singing along with her to all the songs.
After the show we all had fun sharing our favorite parts and memories from the trip all the way home.
We stopped in Modesto for another birthday dinner at Mimi's Cafe it was so yummy. I was impressed that they gave Aubrey a whole piece of cake for her birthday.
and there you have it our 8 year old's birthday weekend! I would say she is one lucky duck! The reason we did a mini trip this year was because it is such a big birthday turning 8! So we told Carter that he will have to wait for his 8th birthday for a mini trip like this. We are so blessed that we get to do these fun things and are able to make Birthdays so much fun. We love you Aubrey more then you can even imagine. You bring so much love to our family. We could never be more proud of you. Every milestone has been such a joy to experience through you. It's bitter sweet feeling I get very sad watching my baby grow up and becoming such an independent young lady but I'm also very proud and excited for you. You have such an amazing life a head of you and I'm so so blessed to get to be apart of it! We love you Aubrey to the moon and back!
Happy Birthday!!
