Aubrey's Dance Recital

Aubrey had her spring dance recital on Wednesday June 25th.  It was a great show and I was so proud of our little girl.  The ballet number was a beautiful dance to the waltz from Frozen.  The costume was gorgeous!!  This was our 3rd year of doing dance.  It's crazy that she has been dancing since she was 3! Now that she is getting older she is really learning the steps on her own and practices at home.

I loved having a mini photo shoot with our beautiful girl before the dress rehearsal.

I was pretty proud of the bun I did :)

She was so serious in some of the pictures.

Her tap number was to a song in Princess and the frog I think it was called, "Blow That Horn."  They used one of Mrs. Denisa's costume for that one.  She has actually worn this one before I think her Halloween show 2 year ago.
 The night of the show.
Aubrey with Mrs. Denisa
Nana, Papa and Titi came out for the night to support Aubrey it was fun to be with them all.
 Back stage!

Daddy surprised Aubrey with beautiful flowers she was very excited!

We love our dancer!! They had a hip hop number that had 2 little boys in it and Carter got very excited!! We might need to sign him up or maybe Karate or T-ball???

June Fun!

Our first month of summer vacation has been so much fun!! I love having both my kiddos home, staying in our PJ's all day, no plans, being lazy, swimming, taking long walks, playing with toys, doing crafts and just being us!! It's been great!
We start most of our days taking a bike ride/jog.  Also like I mentioned in my last post we have a gym membership and I have been getting ready for my first 5k. I'm up to running 28 minutes straight! I'm pretty proud of it! I'm 2 days away from reaching a 5k!
I still work 1 day a week at the airport.  The first two weeks of summer they got to have Nana, Papa and Titi here and they got to go to the movies, parks and out to lunch.  The last few weeks I have taken them to work with me.  They do really well.  I usually bring coloring sheets, mini crafts, play dough, lots of snacks and a movie and surprisingly the 6 hours go by fast and they leave in a good mood saying they love work :)
We have made a few trips to the public library for the summer reading program.  The kids made these cute bags to bring their books home in.  We also did the Barnes and Noble reading challenge and got a brand new book!
We have had a few ortho appointments.  Aubrey's face mask looks really cool and she has been so good about wearing it at night.  Dr. Chad is really happy with her progress.
June 19th was my Relief Society activity.  Since last month our Mother's Day brunch was cancelled I wanted to still do a mother daughter celebration.  We did a ice cream social with a photographer and a craft.

It was a fun evening with the little girls!
Friday June 20th we went with Aubrey's girl scout troop to the Modesto Nuts baseball game.

 I love Carter's smile:

I took Aubrey on a mother daughter date day to the mall and for ice cream.
Playdates with friends:
Carter and Colton.
Aubrey and Kendall.
This last weekend Titi came out for Aubrey's dance recital (next post).  It was so much fun we had her here for 3 nights.  It was a blast.  Lots of shopping, eating, swimming and of course baking!
We also made family tie dyes over the weekend.  I took Aubrey down to Madera to Pump it Up for Grace's Birthday party.
Yesterday we went to Michael's for there kid craft day.  As you can see I can't get those tie dyes off them lol! Carter really had a great time not sure why he is smiling like that.
The kids love having slumber parties!!
They usually start in their rooms and than end up in our room some nights :) I love that they want us all to be together all the time.  Of course there are times I want my alone time but it's just so cute that they love us so much they want to spend every minute with us.

Swimming Lessons

The kids just finished their 2 week long swim lessons last Thursday.  It was a GREAT experience! We decided to join the gym this summer so we have been spending lots of our days at the pool as a family.  Right before swim lessons started daddy really worked with both kids and they were starting to swim with out their floaties.  Aubrey learned really quickly and I was even considering not doing lessons for her but we decided it would be good to work on her form and the different swim strokes.
We decided to do a private swim instruction rather than at the college or through the city.  I have been hearing about the swim instructor Mrs. Michelle for years.  The last 2 years when I went to sign up in May for June classes she would be booked all summer already.  This year I was smarter and booked our session in February for the June 16-26 session.  She was wonderful!! I now know why she books up! Her backyard looks like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland, her pool is gorgeous and she is the most calm, loving, helpful, energetic, knowledgeable swim coach ever! She really was wonderful! The kids jumped in on the first day like they have known her for their whole life and were completely comfortable. I was shocked at how quick Carter took to her and started swimming all on his own.  It was hard to sit by and watch when he would just go for it and hold his breath and swim by himself.  There were a few times I stood up worrying he couldn't catch his breath but he would always find his way to the teacher or the wall.  It was really crazy!  I think Mrs. Michelle's calmness really made my kids comfortable. There were 6 kids in the class.  the older boys were 7, Aubrey 6, another girl 5, and Carter and another girl who was 4.  Both Carter and Aubrey were the best swimmers (sorry to brag) but they were! The teacher was so impressed she inviting my kids back for a private lesson one of the nights.
We might have a couple future Olympic swimmers on our hands!
This was the first day of class:
That's Carter swimming.....

 Aubrey swimming:

The kids both have freestyle, butterfly and breast stroke down.  They have been working on their back floats.  I'm looking into getting them into skimmers a local swim team to keep them going with their new found passion! On the first day when Aubrey got out of the pool she says, "Mom I love swim class I never want to miss it! Not even if I'm sick." It was very fun and I can't wait to watch them blossom in their swimming as the summer continues.
