May was a month of getting use to the new normal around here. Carter's teacher, Mrs. Taylor has been a wonderful distance learning teacher. She has so many fun activities for the kids to do online. She also organized a fun book club group that meet every Friday on Zoom.
Friday May 1st book club....
Carter and Aubrey have been enjoying bike ride to the pond near our house to collect tadpoles. We have had this one since the very beginning. Carter named him, Tad.....
Sometimes they collect ones that look like tadpoles but are fish so we release those back. This was Monday May 4th after Carter's busy birthday weekend.
We took a fun 10 mile bike ride that day and got a treat on our way home...
Carter likes to go on multiple bike rides so we usually do one in the morning and one in the evening....
Tuesday May 5th was Cinco De Mayo. Aubrey and I enjoyed getting dressed up...
We made some Mexican papel picado decorations out of tissue paper for our art that day....
It looked really cool!
For dinner I mad fajitas and homemade pico de gallo with the cilantro from our garden....
Sunset bike ride...
Wednesday May 6th our friends invited us for Kona Ice....
Carter had a cookie science experiment....
With everything being closed we decided to get an above ground pool for our side yard like we use to do when we had small kids. We want a house with a pool so bad but have yet to find one that meets all our dreams so we have to make the best of it and get a temporary pool. To make the above ground pool look less tacky and being more functional I thought it would be cool to build a deck around it. So I asked my super talented hubby to build a deck and guess what he said yes! We ordered the pool online and while we waited for it we got our side yard all ready. We bought all the supplies and my amazing hubby went right to work!
He works so hard for his family and to make all my dreams come true. Saturday May 9th was probably the hottest day of the month but t didn't stop Spence from working. It sure is coming together.
Sunday May 10th was Mother's day. The kids made me feel so special all day. It was the very best! I woke up to a table of gifts and homemade cards that were the sweetest!
Before gift opening I got to go a run and then work out with dad. Then we opened gifts and then when I went to shower the kids and dad made me my favorite breakfast...
Belgian waffle with half fruit and half syrup. So yummy!
After breakfast the kids and dad did a spa day for me and it was amazing!!!!!
After facials, nails, back message and foot message we watched a fun girly movie calls Poms.
Then Spencer made me my favorite dinner Chicken gyros...
That night we had a chocolate chip cookie dough cheese cake for dessert. It was a fabulous day!!!! I love being a mom!!!
Monday May 11th Carter and I out for our morning bike ride...
Tuesday May 12th Aubrey and Dad had a father daughter date to the dump and out to lunch at Sonic...
Carter and I had a picnic and then went to Petsmart.
We also grabbed a yummy treat...
This girl is the cutest!!!!
Carter and I got her a puzzle at the pet store and she loved it and figured it out so quick!
Friday May 15th Carter's class had Hawaiian day...
We also got our pool that day!
and I put a stone path together to the pool...
and Tad got his legs! (it was a busy day!)
The pool filled up all day Friday and into the night. Saturday May 16th it was ready for us to jump in. It felt so nice and refreshing....
The puppies tried it too and loved it!
Our pool area was sure coming together!
After our swim we packed the car and headed to Sonora to spend time with our family. This was our first road trip since February so it felt so fun packing the car and having some where to go. We had felt that since we did Carter's party and all stayed healthy we were safe to do another gathering. It was our weekend to celebrate Mother's day with mom. For Mother's day mom wanted her favorite hanging flowers so us girls had fun going to the nursery together and picking them out.
While we were at the nursery Spencer gave my dad a much needed hair cut...
Once we got home Titi and Aubrey made dessert and Papa did a BBQ.
Everything was great! After dinner we went on a nice hike. They are working on the lake so they have drained it for a couple months it was pretty cool getting to explore the bottom of the lake...
Father daughter pics!
My parents house is so dreamy! They did such a great job.
After our hike we Nana opened her cards and gifts...
The puppies love Nana and Papa. That night we had dessert and then watched Addam's Family. It was such a fun night. We had a great sleep and then Papa made his Famous French Toast for breakfast on Sunday May 17th.
Nana bought me a hanging pot for Mother's day too.
Aunt Pat sent the kids some fun games in the mail...
We also noticed that day Tad was officially a frog! He actually escaped and we thought he was a goner but Carter found him in the living room. We tried our hardest to keep him in his cage but we lost him again the next day. We hope he hopped out to our backyard.
Tuesday May 19th I made over 200 Chocolate chip cookies for the teacher appreciation drive thru lunch that the PTC was putting on.
I had the idea to have the kids make posters and stand on the sidewalk for when the teachers drove thru for their lunch. Aubrey and Carter loved making their signs...
That night Aubrey had a drawing zoom meeting with the Young Women...
Wednesday May 20th was the teacher appreciation lunch. We had so much fun volunteering and sending love to all our favorite teachers. I love being part of such an amazing school...

This is the life!
That night we made fish taco's for dinner. We tried all kinds of fish and all kinds of ways to prepare the fish it was so good. Our favorite was the battered tilapia.
Monday May 25th Labor Day I realized that I had pretty much burned out my treadmills motor! I have been running on the treadmill for 10 plus years around 4-6 miles every other day and it finally said no more. Thank goodness we were able to order a new motor and Spencer replaced it for me! It's like new again!

The week of May 26th was family field day so we had fun doing all the activities as a family...
We finally got the kids basketball pictures. After picture day the kids said I wouldn't like the pictures because they were asked to not smile but I actually really like them because they look so tough!
Friday May 29th we had a fun family dinner at Sonic....
Saturday May 30th we did yard work and were surprised by the yummy Kona truck in our neighborhood for the day!
Our May ended with a super fun family camp out in our backyard......
and there you have it May 2020! We love getting this chance to be all together at home 24/7 and the chance we have to enjoy all the small things.
