The kids did an amazing job on their talks!! They had comment cards after and so many people commented that they could feel the spirit when Carter gave his talk.
Aubrey's talk:
A few years ago
when I was in kindergarten, my teacher would keep a jar of gummy bears on her
desk that she would give out as rewards during her class. My desk was right
next to this jar of gummy bears. One day, when we had a substitute, I decided I
would open the jar and help myself to a gummy bear. I also offered gummy bears to all my
friends. At the time I thought I was
sharing and being kind but after I thought about it, I realized I made a bad
decision. Taking something that wasn’t mine or that I didn’t earn was not
choosing the right and I needed to repent for my mistake. I felt really bad about my decision so I came
home and told my mom and wrote a letter to my teacher to say I was sorry and
that I promised to never do it again.
Before Jesus
Christ was crucified, he called the Apostle Peter to lead his church. Today we
have President Russell M. Nelson to help lead us just like Peter did long ago.
Prophets teach us to choose the right and they help us to know when we should
repent when we make a mistake, like when I took the gummy bears.
I say these
things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Carters talk:
May 5th
of this year was more than just Cinco de Mayo for my family. It was the day I
was baptized. I turned 8 on May 2nd
and I was very excited to be baptized. I
was also very nervous that my grandpa wouldn’t be able to make it since he was
very sick. My parents worked it out so I
could be baptized at my grandpa’s chapel so he could be there. It was such a special day for me. I loved being in all white with my dad and
seeing all my family there to support me.
Right after my dad baptized me I felt like I had made the right decision
and I felt happy. When I looked out at
everyone and I saw them smiling and it made me feel good. I remember seeing my grandpa and giving him a
big hug right after. My grandpa lost his
battle with cancer the next week. It
makes my heart feel really good knowing that I made the right decision to be
baptized and that my grandpa was there for my special day. I want to live with Heavenly Father and my whole
family again in Heaven someday. I made
the choice to be baptized and I will try to keep making good decisions so that is
possible.
I say this
in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
After church we came home and the kids showed the family what they have learning on the trumpet and on the piano...
Then we took Papa out for breakfast/lunch to Blackbear Diner..
Si fun to have them here for the day!
I was excited to get a box of apples from the apple lady at church again this year!
The kids and I made caramel apples for the teachers and staff at the school..
They also made ice hands for a science experiment at home.
Friday 9/28 I got to go in Carter's class and help make bats.
Saturday 9/29 was Nana's birthday but they were in Boston so we had to wait to celebrate with them later. We went on a family picnic to a fun park in Snelling.
We had a really fun Nerf battle and just spending time together outside as a family all day.
even the dogs came!
Sunday 9/30 we went to church and then came home and while Dad and Aubrey were baking bread Carter and I made a dominoes track.
That night we went to our friends the Sharps for a BBQ.
Wow! That was our September! what a fun month! and now we go into all the holidays! Yay!!
