Cancun Day 4 (Coba)

Wednesday July 31st was our first excursion of the trip.  We really wanted to check out a Myain Ruin while in Cancun.  I had done a lot of research and found out that the last ruin that you can still climb was Coba.  So we booked a day trip through our resort to go check it out.  We woke up early and had breakfast delivered to the room.
We boarded a bus and headed to the ruin.  It was a long bus ride almost about 2 hours but the bus was super comfortable so it was nice and relaxing.  We got to stop at a couple small little stores on the way and then made it to the ruins.  Once off the bus we had to follow our tour group around.  I'm not one to love tour groups I like to march to my own drum so I was trying to lose the crowd but Spencer wanted us to stay with the group.  It was so HOT!! and the bugs were horrible.  If we kept moving it was find but when the tour guide would stop to talk you would feel bugs biting and sweat dripping so it was not that enjoyable.  Besides that seeing the ruins were amazing and getting to climb on them and check them out was pretty awesome.

The Myain village is very large. To get to the big ruin, Coba it's around a 3 mile walk so you can either walk it, rent a bike or ride a fun little bike/car.  Our tour guide recommended that we take the ride so we all got our buggies.  It was super fun and we felt like we were on the Amazing Race....

All the trees were gorgeous! That is another reason we picked this location.  It was fun being in the jungle.
Aubrey and I's driver didn't speak any English but it was still fun to try and communicate.
One of the reasons I love Mexico so much is because Spencer speaks Spanish so great! It was so much fun listening to him speak to everyone.

We made it to Coba!
We were so excited to get to climb it! Aubrey decided it wasn't for her.  She had heard that someone had died from falling down and that they were going to close climbing it to the public soon because it's so dangerous.  She opted to stay at the bottom and watch.  Spencer, Carter and I went for it! There were a lot of stairs and it was a bit of challenge but we did it and made it to the top!

The view was amazing! Being so high over all the trees was really breath taking.

and then it was time to climb down....
That was scary but we did it!

Once down we were so so so sweaty! It felt nice riding the buggies back to the bus.
Part of our tour included lunch.  It was very gross! The view of the jungle was pretty and the cute old lady making tortillas was cool but the food was not good.  It also started to rain at lunch which was neat being in the rain forest.
When we got back to the hotel we all took a much needed dip in the pool!
Then we got the kids room service for dinner and Spencer and I went out for a date night.
We decided on Sushi.  We got some weird thing to start off with.

It's so crazy that all these fun unique restaurants were in our resort and all part of the cost!

We had a fabulous date night together.

Cancun Day 3

Tuesday July 30th was our first full day in Cancun! It was also Spencer and I's 14th wedding anniversary! I'm so lucky to get to call my best friend my husband and to get to celebrate 14 years of being married in a tropical paradise!
Our day started off with a nice work out at our very nice gym!
Then it was pool time! The weather was perfect! It was hot but being by the pool in and out of the water we didn't really feel the heat.  I had to get a fun drink by the pool!

The pools were amazing! It was the kind of water you can just jump right into! It reminded us a lot of how it felt like in Hawaii.
We had fun playing with our Gopro in the pool.

We swam and swam! We had lunch out by the pool and tried the swim up bar for some fun smoothies and sodas.
Carter is our dare devil and was so excited to try the wave machine.  He did awesome and looked like a true boogie boarder!

He did have a couple wipes outs!
Everyday by the pool they had arts and crafts.  This day they were making friendship bracelets.
Some kind of cool bird by the pool...
Then they had a surf board challenge in the pool.  You had to stay on the surf board standing and then jump over the rope and land on your feet on the board.  Carter was up for the challenge...
He did really well but at the last minute slipped off the board.
After a fun pool day we went back to the room to get ready for our anniversary dinner...

On our way to dinner we stopped by the arcade.  Even the games were free! This resort was amazing!
For dinner we decided on a Brazilian grill.  It was so fun trying all the different meats and getting to pull the meat off the stick ourselves.  The kids loved it!

After dinner we had more time exploring and finding cool places all around the resort...

Dad and Aubrey were tired so they went back to the room and Carter and I stayed out a little longer.  We found the super cool kid place that had so many fun things even an ice skating rink!

Once back to our room we all knocked out pretty quick...
We needed our sleep we had a big excursion planned for the next day!

Day 1&2 of our Cancun Vacation (travel days)

Since our flight to Cancun was out of SFO and left very early Monday July 29th we opted to do what we did when we went to Disney World and drive to San Francisco the day before and stay the night near the airport.
Sunday July 28th we were off for San Francisco...
We did a pit stop at BJ's for lunch...
and to check out the outlets...
We stayed at a nice hotel right on the water in South San Francisco.

We had a great night enjoying the official vacation feeling! We went out to dinner and then got in bed for our early morning.
Monday July 29th we woke up at 5am to make our 8am departure.  SFO was crazy but we manged to get to get some sandwiches and salads for the flight and get to our gate in time!

The flight from SFO to CUN was 5 hours.  We had a great flight! The kids did amazing they didn't even get up once! Our food we brought was great and we all enjoyed the on flight entertainment.  Once we got to Cancun we had  along customs line and finally found our bus to take us to our resort.
We booked and all inclusive resort at the Moon Palace.  We were blown away by the beauty and the smell when we entered the resort! They even gave Aubrey and flowers!

After we got checked in we explored the resort.  It was huge.  The resort was right on the water.  Unfortunately Cancun is being hit with large amounts of sea weed washing up on shore so we didn't do much beach time but as you will see in all our other pictures we made up for it with all the other great things we did.

Our first night we had dinner at a seafood place right on the beach.  I really liked my meal the other three were not that impressed.

I think also we were all sleepy from a big travel day!  We ended up going back to the room and ordering some room service which was wonderful and the kids enjoyed our in room Jacuzzi tub!
Now we get to have a whole week to relax and enjoy!
