Cancun Day 4 (Coba)

Wednesday July 31st was our first excursion of the trip.  We really wanted to check out a Myain Ruin while in Cancun.  I had done a lot of research and found out that the last ruin that you can still climb was Coba.  So we booked a day trip through our resort to go check it out.  We woke up early and had breakfast delivered to the room.
We boarded a bus and headed to the ruin.  It was a long bus ride almost about 2 hours but the bus was super comfortable so it was nice and relaxing.  We got to stop at a couple small little stores on the way and then made it to the ruins.  Once off the bus we had to follow our tour group around.  I'm not one to love tour groups I like to march to my own drum so I was trying to lose the crowd but Spencer wanted us to stay with the group.  It was so HOT!! and the bugs were horrible.  If we kept moving it was find but when the tour guide would stop to talk you would feel bugs biting and sweat dripping so it was not that enjoyable.  Besides that seeing the ruins were amazing and getting to climb on them and check them out was pretty awesome.

The Myain village is very large. To get to the big ruin, Coba it's around a 3 mile walk so you can either walk it, rent a bike or ride a fun little bike/car.  Our tour guide recommended that we take the ride so we all got our buggies.  It was super fun and we felt like we were on the Amazing Race....

All the trees were gorgeous! That is another reason we picked this location.  It was fun being in the jungle.
Aubrey and I's driver didn't speak any English but it was still fun to try and communicate.
One of the reasons I love Mexico so much is because Spencer speaks Spanish so great! It was so much fun listening to him speak to everyone.

We made it to Coba!
We were so excited to get to climb it! Aubrey decided it wasn't for her.  She had heard that someone had died from falling down and that they were going to close climbing it to the public soon because it's so dangerous.  She opted to stay at the bottom and watch.  Spencer, Carter and I went for it! There were a lot of stairs and it was a bit of challenge but we did it and made it to the top!

The view was amazing! Being so high over all the trees was really breath taking.

and then it was time to climb down....
That was scary but we did it!

Once down we were so so so sweaty! It felt nice riding the buggies back to the bus.
Part of our tour included lunch.  It was very gross! The view of the jungle was pretty and the cute old lady making tortillas was cool but the food was not good.  It also started to rain at lunch which was neat being in the rain forest.
When we got back to the hotel we all took a much needed dip in the pool!
Then we got the kids room service for dinner and Spencer and I went out for a date night.
We decided on Sushi.  We got some weird thing to start off with.

It's so crazy that all these fun unique restaurants were in our resort and all part of the cost!

We had a fabulous date night together.
