Saturday January 1st we had a fun time celebrating the new year going to the movies as a family.
We had fun the last day of vacation January 2nd working on some Lego sets the kids got for Christmas.
The kids went back to school on Monday January 3rd. It was hard seeing them leave but it did allow for me time to take down Christmas and get the house back in order. For my birthday my parents had gave me a gift card to hobby lobby and I was excited to get some new lamps. It was also fun getting to play with our new couch and different pillows. It’s always sad to box up Christmas but it also feels refreshing and new!
Carter had his new friend Russell over for a hang out and dinner.
Aubrey got her basketball uniform and looked adorable!
Saturday January 8th was Aubrey’s first church dance. It was in Turlock so dad, Carter and I went out to dinner while the girls danced the night away. They had a blast!!
Monday January 10th was the first basketball game. Aubrey was beyond thrilled to make the varsity basketball team. It was a super hard try outs! They went from 80 girls to 15!! Once she made the team they had practice almost everyday at 7am! It was a huge commitment!! They even practiced durning Christmas break! When it was finally time for her first game we were all very excited!
Then COVID hit our family!!!!! Poor carter woke up in the middle of the night Tuesday January 11th throwing up. I didn’t know throwing up was a side affect but then as I watched him get a fever and chills I realized it might be covid. When we tested him it said negative but just to be safe we kept him home. Then Thursday January 13th aubrey came home from school and looked like a ghost! I took her temp and it was 103!!!! We decided to test them both and guess what?!?! Positive for covid!!! Dad and I did what we could and wore masks, washed our hands a million times and tried to keep the kids in their rooms.
Carter had almost every symptom sore throat, runny nose, body aches, fever, and throwing up. Aubrey just had a very high fever! It was super scary at first but when you see your kids sick you just want to snuggle them and take the pain so I gave in and just did it and guess what?!? I didn’t get covid! It was crazy that here was this virus that we feared for so long and it was in our home and I wasn’t at scared anymore. I didn’t care if I got it because all cared about was being their for my kiddos. Spencer ended up getting a sore throat and a cough. We think he had it too but his tests kept coming back negative. We treated it like he had it and we all just quarantined. It actually was really nice to all be home again. Aubrey was bummed to miss one of her games but other than that we didn’t miss much. We watched lots of movies and played lots of games.
My grandma cactus was in full bloom and when ever it’s in bloom I think it’s my grandma telling me she is her with me helping me.
This was the medicine station.
One of the nights we had a sushi date.
Gigi was so sweet to bring jumba juices to the kids one day. It really lifted their spirits!
We all made breakfast one day..
And while at home we could really work on carters science fair project.
As soon as they were feeling better we took a walk to port of subs.
And the park.
Everyone recovered great. I was so happy I didn’t get it so I could take care of everyone else. Moms can’t get sick! Even though Carter was much better I just wanted to make sure the doctor took a look at him since he was a preemie and all was great!! After our appointment we went out to breakfast! I’m so glad he has his Appetite back!!!
More science fair preparations.
The dogs love the park!!
Back to basketball practice!
Dad made one of his Christmas presents for dinner. Bloody Mary Tri-tip. So yummy!
And before you know it we were back to normal life!
Monday January 24th pj day at school!
The pets sun bathing…
Aubrey was Ecstatic to get back onto the court!!
Wednesday January 26th was crazy hair day..
Game night!! Aubreys team is amazing!!! She looks like a pro! We are so proud of her.
After the game we went out to a new burger place in town so yummy!
Saturday January 29th was carters Boy Scout snow trip. He went up with the troop and then Spencer, Aubrey, Gigi and I (and the dogs too!)met up with them.
It was a super fun day!!! The weather was perfect and the kids had a blast!! After playing all day we went over to have dinner with nana, papa, titi and Gaga. It was fun for Gigi to meet everyone. Papa did a great job getting all the dinner. We really enjoyed our visit. We also celebrated titis bday that day. It took us all the way to the 29th because we were sick.
Sunday January 30th we went to church.
Monday January 31st I went to the school and took all the class pictures. It was a big job but I got it all done. It’s been fun working on the yearbook. Here is carters class…
Mrs Klick is still on maternity leave so this is Mrs Jimenez. I love getting the chance to see my guy!
That afternoon aubrey had a game. This is her new friend Mekia with her and Gigi.
Aubrey and Bett!
We survived covid in January and still had fun and did many things.
