June 2021

Wednesday June 2nd Peterson had a drive-through award ceremony for the end of the year. An idea I had was to have some kind of photo shoot spot for the kids. While I was subbing I found out that one of our teachers makes balloon arch’s for fun so I bought all the balloons and had her make this neat balloon arch. It was a big hit!
Noah had spent the night the night before so we took him to the award ceremony.
That afternoon Aubrey and I went on a target run and to have Starbucks. We always have so much fun together!
Thursday, June 3 was the last day of school.

2020-2021 School year was definitely different! Half the year was virtual school and the other half was semi-back to normal. We loved the half days and I absolutely loved having Wednesdays at home. We learned a lot from this school year. I loved that we got to have the opportunity to see what it was like to have home school. It was also fun being in our new house all together. But as fun as the school year was we were all very excited for upcoming summer!

New this year is I made a summer calendar. We loved having it up on the wall knowing what we were up to for our whole summer….
We were all so excited to have a perfect summer oasis in our backyard!!

Thursday night I took my guy on a date to yogalicious.
Friday, June 4 Aubrey had a basketball summer party. She invited her basketball team to come over for swimming and barbecue hamburgers.

They also watched a movie.
It was a lot of fun!

Saturday, June 6th Aubrey and I met up with Titi at the Dublin BART station for a girls mini trip to Berkeley.
We had so much fun joking around on the BART.
After our fun trip over we walked to our hotel which was very nice.

Then we headed to telegraph. Telegraph is sure different than what we remember when we were younger. It could be because of Covid or maybe things have just changed. But it was not as crowded and a lot of the stores were closed. We had a heck of a time finding our favorite pizza spot that we used to go to but we found another one that was pretty dang good too….

Then we headed into all the vintage stores. We had fun trying on crazy stuff and laughing. We were shocked at how expensive stuff was.  Telegraph was known for its inexpensive stores which was not how it is now! It just didn’t feel like it use to feel. But we still had fun!
After shopping we walked to UC Berkeley. It was neat seeing the university and with Aubreys amazing grades she could eventually go there.

We even got to see a guy hugging a tree…
We then went and got a gross tea thing and went back to our hotel to relax a little bit. After that we took an Uber over to a more modern shopping area and then went to one of our favs for dinner, Chevys!

Once back to our hotel we decided we needed some candy for our slumber party so we went to the target across from our hotel. It was a mini target! It was so cute! Hecka small but it had everything you could want.
Sunday June 7th we walked over to a yummy brunch spot across from the UC. It was a beautiful morning!

Then it was time to ride BART back to Dublin and then home. It was a quick girls weekend but so much fun!!
When we got home I had to help Carter get ready for his first cub Scout camp out. I was nervous because this was the first time he was going camping alone. Thank goodness his friend jackson was going to share a tent with him. Since we only have a large family tent mr Richard let the boys borrow a small 3 man tent. We practiced building it at home.
Monday June 7th I dropped Carter and jackson off at scout island for their camp out. I was super nervous but it was nice to know his troop was the only ones on the island. Him and jackson had to build their own tent.

Mrs. Jamie was so cool and sent pictures the entire time. It looks like it was a lot of fun! Carter liked it but said he was bored too. I think being in nature for 24 hours without internet was new to him for sure!

Aunt pat came into town that day to spend some time with us. We all, minus Carter went out to dinner that night. It’s so fun to take our guests to the restaurants that are within walking distance from our house.

Carter made his own dinner with Owen that night.

I was really missing my guy that night! Then I got a text from Mrs. Jamie that Carter forgot his monkey stuffed animal so I gladly drove over to drop it off. It was neat having him camping only 5 minutes from the house and it was super great that I got to give him a hug that night.
He survive the night and I was one happy camper to get to go and pick him up that morning.

It felt great having the kids home for summer now. I love watching them do really fun art projects.
Our little Rango loves wandering through the house.

Even though it was summer time baseball season was still going on so we got to take Aunt Pat to Carter’s baseball game Thursday June 10th.

Friday June 11th Aubrey and her friends had a date lunch planned. They all met at our house and then walked over to Strings for lunch. They look super cute with their purses!
Nia, Gigi and Aubrey
After the lunch the girls hung out at our house. Then Nia had to go home but Gigi stayed and came to the baseball game with us that evening.
After the game we went out to dinner at Applebee’s.
Saturday June 12th we took Carter to the batting cages. He did so good!

The next few days we just took advantage of summer life. Worked out a lot, bike rides, swimming, movies, late night walks to ice cream, friends over, slushy runs and sushi. Summer is so wonderful!

Saturday June 19th Aubrey was invited to her basketball friend Sammie’s 13th birthday which was a day trip to great America. I was of course nervous about my baby driving 2 hours away and going on huge roller coasters without me holding her in but I was excited for this opportunity for her. Spencer use to coach with sammies dad so we knew the family and felt comfortable having her go but I still was nervous. Aubrey was also a little anxious but excited. It helped when she got picked up and found out that all the girls were knew to roller coasters so they were going to take it slow.

It was also a new group of girls that Aubrey doesn’t really hang out with but she still went for it and had a fabulous day! She is still telling us stories from it.

That day Carter had the opportunity to go to a Young boys activity through the church. It was pioneer themed and he got to do fun things like shoot BB guns, learn stories about pioneers and play outside.

That night Carter got to go to his best friend Noah’s birthday party it was a glow themed swim party!
Since both the kids were busy with their parties that day it was nice that Spencer and I got to have a date day. We got to have a yummy lunch and dinner and we even got to watch a movie that we wanted to watch in our movie theater on our own. It was a fun day!!

Sunday June 20th was Father’s Day!
The kids and I had so much fun making and buying daddy fun gifts for his special day. He was one spoiled guy!

I absolutely love how artistic my children are. They come up with the best ideas. I took them both to the craft store and they found what they wanted to make daddy. Carter had found this fun frame and instead of just putting a picture of him and dad he drew a picture of him and dad.

Aubrey had the idea of making a memory box for dad. She wanted to print out pictures of all of our vacations and put it in as a collage. It came out adorable! We had so much fun looking at all our old pictures and reliving our vacations in the past. I think daddy will treasure this gift forever!!!

Carter has been taking a coding class a couple days a week virtually. He learned how to make his own game. So for Father’s Day he made a Father’s Day game for daddy.
After our fun Father’s Day celebrations at home we packed up the car and headed up to Sonora to be with my dad also that day. I am so grateful to have a hubby that is willing to share his special day with my dad. I know it meant a lot to my dad having all of us with him. Carter also made his papa a video game for Father’s Day.

It was a perfect day to go fishing. I love how Spencer wore his supinger fishing shirt and Carter wore his Supinger fishing hat.

The dogs also love coming up to Sonora.

We had a wonderful barbecue dinner and got to enjoy each other’s company and then we took some family pictures out on the back deck.

It was a very fun day. So glad to live close enough to celebrate those kind of days all together.

What did we ever do before a pool!!!
Macy and Rango hanging out…
Time to start getting ready for our big family vacation. Carter has begged me every time we are in Lowe’s to get a key made since we needed some new keys made for our housesitter I took the opportunity to surprise Carter with getting keys made he was very excited! Haha!
We also went on a junk food shopping spree…
Vacation time!!!!!
June 23rd-June 28th
Disneyland vacation!!
It’s official we are actually going on a vacation as family of 4 and we could not be more excited!!!
Wednesday 23rd we packed the car up and kissed our puppies and rango good bye and headed down south!
First stop our new Dutch bros. for a smoothie…
We made it down to Anaheim!! We stayed at our favorite hotel the Fairfield inn & suites which is right across the street from Disneyland. Our first night of vacation was exploring downtown Disney.

We had a great dinner in downtown Disney. We had so much fun all being together and laughing!

First Disney treat of many!!
We were all so excited to have a vacation since we have been pretty much home bound for the last year and a half. We were so lucky that we made it into Disneyland right before COVID with the Schillerstrom side of the family February 2020. Disneyland actually shut down in March 2020 and didn’t reopen until the end of April 2021. This was crazy because Disneyland never closes!!! When there was talk of the park reopening at 25% capacity and you needed a reservation I went on the web page and was able to get a 3 day pass for our family.  We usually wait 2 years in between our Disney vacations but in a world we’re everything is changing we decided we needed to jump on this opportunity and go to Disney. Also the new avengers land in California adventures just opened. We timed our vacation perfect because the week before there was a mask mandate but when we went they just stopped that rule so we didn’t have to wear a mask which was very awesome!! There were a few times that we put a mask on if we felt like the crowds were too much but for the most part we got to just breath freely and really got to enjoy. It was great getting to make the decision for ourselves.
Thursday June 24th first day in the park!
Disneyland here we come!
As you can see the crowds were very low!! At times we felt like we were the only ones in the park!

Our first ride was the railroad one. The kids love it and with no lines we got to ride it a few times in a row!!

Our favorite treat of all Mickey beignets!!
Cute duck family!!

Excited to check out Star Wars land again!!

In 1998 Spencer and I went to Disneyland with the marching band and got this cute picture!! I was so excited to recreate it 23 years later.  I was so in love with my then boyfriend and I’m even more in love with my husband now!

I always have to take one for the team and do the 3D rides because Spencer gets sick on those…

Eating at Disneyland nowadays is much different than it used to be you have to have a reservation or you have to order online and then pick it up. I had started looking online a couple months before our vacation to book a reservation at Blue Bayou but they had no availability. When we got in the park we went over and asked if there was any openings for that evening and they said to come back closer to dinner time. So we did and when we came back they said to come back again… and again. It was kind of weird because they would not tell us it was impossible to get in but just would say keep coming back so that’s what we did and sure enough we got a table!
Dinner was amazing!!!

It’s always a fun experience eating there!! It’s so fun to go on the pirates of the Caribbean and remember our dinner experiences.
After dinner we did some more rides and enjoyed our evening. Because of COVID they do not do parades or fireworks right now.

Friday June 25th was our day in California Adventures. As you can see another quiet morning..
We ran to the incredicoaster! Aubrey was so excited for a big roller coaster experience. This was her first time on it but after her trip to great America where she road 4 upside down roller coasters she was ready for this one. Carter had actually gone on this one before when we went in February so he was excited to do it again.
Since the park was empty the ride people let the kids ride it again. Both Spencer and I felt a little dizzy. Doing an upside down roller coaster first thing in the morning was a little tough on the body. Sure enough after the second ride Carter also felt the dizziness so we tried to take it a little easy the rest on the morning.
It’s not very usual to jump right on the toy story ride that usually has an hour wait but we got right on it!
Then we headed to the new land. It was probably the most crowded part of the park. Also it felt very hot in that area. Oh and at this time there is only one ride so it was not as great as I thought it would have been. But it was still cool to check it out.

The new ride is a Spider-Man ride and you know who is the biggest fan of Tom Holland!….

The ride is super cool and we can’t wait to go on it again soon!
Also seeing all the super hero’s around the land was cool too!

We had lunch in that land. It was so cool! All the food had been enlarged so the sandwich and meat balls were huge!

Also the candy bar was so big and so yummy
But the silverware was mini! It was a fun lunch!!
After lunch we headed to our favorite ride, cars!!
Then we did some shopping. Aubrey fell in love with these mini backpacks. They had all kinds of Disney styles. Since she loves the movie guardians of the galaxy and her most favorite ride is Guardians of the galaxy mission break out it was fitting that she picked a Guardians of the galaxy backpack!
Carter decided on this cool Spider-Man hovering toy. He loves it and plays with it all the time.

We found this fun Wanda Vision photo prop.
We also ran into Mrs. Haar the kids 3rd grade teacher. That was really fun!
Carter had fun playing with his toy all around the park.

These pictures are kind of out of order but they were taken from the day. Aubrey loves to think of fun poses to do on the roller coasters….

After our amazing day in the park we headed out to a very delicious burger place in downtown Disney!
There shakes were unbelievable!!

Saturday June 26th we were in Disneyland again. It was a little more crowded being a Saturday but nothing like it use to be in June’s past.

We sure love the Star Wars land!!! We were lucky to be able to get passes every day for the new rides.
Spencer has been wanting to try a Disneyland turkey leg his whole life! He was in heaven!

That night we were pretty tired and we had done every ride a couple of times so we decided to go back to our room and have McDonald’s and pizza for dinner. We also had to pack up to go to our next hotel the next morning.
Sunday June 27th We checked out of our hotel super early and headed up towards Universal Studios. We checked in to the Hilton which is right across the street dropped off our car and walked over to the park. We were so excited to get to go to Universal Studios since it had been a few years.
We made it all the way through the park and down to the bottom level to start our day there. It was a great plan since most people start at the top of the park so we made it down and got to do all the rides with no wait time. Even the new Jurassic World ride we got right on which was really cool!
We got to do our favorite ride studio tours and loved it!

We had lunch in Simpson land at Krusty klown burgers

Then we made our way into Harry Potter world. The kids were excited to bring their wands and cast spells.

A new ride at universal studios is the secret life of pets ride. It had the most cutest line. You go through the house and it felt like you were in the movie! The ride was super cute too!
We did everything we wanted to do and more so then did some shopping and went back to our hotel to relax.
After relaxing we got ready and walked over to city walk for the evening.

I have always wanted to try Voo Doo donuts! They were yummy and fun!

Monday June 28th we packed up the car and did some sight seeing in Hollywood. It was fun finding the sign.

And going to the famous theater and seeing all the hand prints.

We also had a fun lunch and did some shopping.

Then we made it back home. We had such a wonderful vacation it felt so great getting out and being together as a family. We did miss our doggies and Rango but they were in good care with the housesitter here at home. It felt nice coming home to our new house. This will for sure be another vacation in our memory books that we will always treasure!
Back to life back to reality. Carter had his good friend jackson over on June 30th. They swam a lot and played video games a lot.
They even had a night swim!
We decided to get a fun little fire pit. This isn’t the one that we have but we tried this one out first. It was weird and not safe so we took it back and bought a new one but it was still fun to use it that night to make some s’more’s.

The boys partied so hard jackson fell asleep on his way to the restroom haha!
This picture was actually taken on July 1st but I will just keep it in our June post!
What cute boys playing laser tag!
And that was our June 2021! What fun we had and a great first full month of summer!
