Yosemite

We decided to do mini family vacation to Yosemite.  It was such a blast and a wonderful way to celebrate winter break.  We feel so blessed to have such fun kids that are easy to pack and go.  We hope to do lots more of these fun spur of the moment trips in this coming year!!

We left Friday 12/30 in the morning.  We drove up the Mariposa way and stoped for the best burger in town at a place called Happy Burger! We found it on Yelp and it was amazing!  My mouth is still watering thinking about that burger and those curly fries and the amazing root beer float! All of it was so good!!!

Then we made it to the park.  I forget how luck we are to have a National Park pretty much in our backyard.  Growing up in the bay area it was a good 4 hour drive so to think we can get there in less then 2 hours is amazing.  Seeing all the tourist and thinking about how far they have traveled makes me think I really take it for granted.  We were going to get a membership but found out that 4th graders and there families get in free for a whole year and since Aubrey will be in one in August (ahhhhhhh!) we decided to wait.  Our first hike was Yosemite falls.  The weather was perfect it was cold and wintery but not wet.

All the signs of not climbing didn't stop Carter of course! This boy is giving me lots of gray hairs!

After the falls we hiked around and looked for snow to play in.

The kids were excited to ice skate in their shoes.

I love that we can take Deuce on trips like this.  He is just the cutest!

We found a great area to make snow angels

 and to build snowman.

and daddy chased me around trying to put snow down my jacket until Deuce got too cold and he had to hold him.  It was the cutest photo opt!

The kids snowmans came out so cute!
We walked around and saw some others that people had built...

People take snowman making seriously! Some had hats and scarfs.  This one Carter found had a Christmas tree by it!

After our snow play we were ready for some hot chocolate so we went over to Half Dome Village to walk around and warm up.  It's crazy every background is gorgeous there!
 I love my snow bunny!

After our hot chocolate we were ready to go check in to our cabin.  We got the cutest cabin ever.  It had a queen bed for Spencer and I and bunk beds for the kids.  It also had a bathroom and kitchen.
After we got settled in we went and had pizza for dinner.  Then we stopped by the cutest market and stocked up on lots of treats and junk food.
That night we pigged out while we watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the old one) and played games.
The next morning (Saturday 12/31) we woke up in our cute cabin and got ready for the day.  On the agenda a nature exercise hike before the snow/rains started.

The hike was about 3 miles and it was a lot of up hill.  The kids did really great.  through out the hike they had stop areas that had exercise equipment which was fun to do little challenges.

We found a scary gold mine hole in the mountain at one point.
After our hike we went back and packed up.  We really loved this cabin so we will for sure come back.

The place even had a petting zoo that the kids just loved!

Once we got home we were all ready for a nap.  After our nap we decided to start putting all the Christmas decorations away.  That is always a big job! We all worked together and got everything down except the tree.  It was super rainy that night so we decided on a New Years Eve at home.  We had soup and grilled cheese for dinner and watched a movie together.  We stayed up until 9pm and watched the ball drop on You tube and had our traditional cream puffs and apple cider for dessert.

What a great way to spend the last few days of 2016!!! We have had a wonderful year.  There have been sad things and happy things happen this year! We are excited for 2017 and what it has in store for us!!

Christmas break

I just loved how the dates for Christmas break landed this year! It was great the kids last day of school was a half day on Thursday 12/15 and they didn't have to go back until Tuesday 1/3 it almost felt like we had 3 weeks off instead of two.  The first week of break we spent up in Sonora and doing lots of Christmas preparations and then the week after Christmas was just got to chill and have fun.  It was super awesome because Spencer's office was closed all week.  He still went in a few hours here and there but mostly he was home and we were able to have lots of great family quality time.  The day after Christmas we all slept in! We were super tired so this was a big treat! The kids played all morning with all there new toys and they love their new Kindle's from Nana and Papa
I was able to get a run that morning and wear my new shoes.
Then we we met up with my aunt for the day.  Sad I didn't get any pictures.  Her and her wife were staying at hotel in town for a couple nights and the plan was to all hang out but her wife Shelly pulled out her back and stayed in the room and rested the whole day, we felt so bad for her.  We went and picked up aunt pat and went to sushi for lunch and then went to Target to get the move Storks and all came home for a matinee at our house.  Super cute movie.  Then we took Aunt pat back to the hotel so she could be with Shelly and we came home to play and eat left overs.  So good!!!
Tuesday 12/27 was another lazy morning of playing and building.
That afternoon we took the kids bowling and had a blast!

Wednesday 12/28 was a day daddy went into the office for a little bit so we met up with him for lunch at Pizza Factory and then had a play date with Ander and Kendal in the afternoon.

After Ander left Carter hung with the girls.
Thursday 12/29 we went up to Turlock to met Titi for the day.  First up ice skating!!

I was so excited to just have a day with the kids and my sister she is so much fun!!

The Turlock ice skating rink is great!! I really love it and I have decided I really want my own skates! Ice skating is a real passion of mine and I would do it all the time if I could.  This year it was a little harder for the kids.  Aubrey was really getting the hang of it last year but this year she has been a little more nervous.  But she does keep trying and skated for the whole 2 hour time limit.

Carter on the other hand likes it for like 40 minutes and then the skates really bother him.  Anything uncomfortable bothers him though.
He still has fun and loves to watch so that's good. and he does try and that's all I ask.

After 2 hours of skating we were ready for some lunch! We went to Chili's and had a nice lunch.
After lunch we did some shopping at Old Navy and then went over to Target and look what we found.....
Yep Hatchimals! The number one toy this season! People were fitting over these things before Christmas.  Aubrey had it on her list but since they were so hard to find we had convinced her it was something she could get after Christmas with her Christmas money.  I had no idea we would find them this quick after Christmas.
Both kids had enough money to buy one and with all the excitement Carter wanted one too but we talked him out of it and he bought a new race car for daddy's track.
 Aubrey was beyond excited!
It was a really fun day with titi.  The whole way home Aubrey wanted to open her new hatcimal but she waited patiently until we got home.
It was a lot of fun watching it hatch that night and it has been fun teaching and playing with it.
That night we had Chinese food and built a really cool maze for the hamsters with megna-tiles.  We also played on daddy's race car track.
 Up next mini vaca!
